The current data of the coronavirus in Belgium, according to 'WorldOMeter,' an international team of developers and researchers, providing world statistics of the pandemics, 26,667 cases have been recorded, while the number of deaths is 3,019 and 5,568 have recovered.

Belgian hospitals have received 459 new patients with the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 5590 people hospitalized in this context, while 283 deaths were confirmed by the center of the FPS Public Health. 

There were more discharges from the hospital (483) than admissions, said virologist Emmanuel André during the daily press briefing on the results of the pandemic in Belgium.

Currently, 1285 people are in intensive care (+9), of which 992 require respiratory assistance. "The pressure on intensive care remains great and could intensify in the coming days," commented virologist Steven Van Gucht.

Of the 283 deaths since Wednesday, 135 patients lost their lives in Flanders, 109 in Wallonia and 39 in Brussels. 116 diagnosed people died in hospitals, said Emmanuel André.

A total of 2,523 deaths from the new coronavirus have been recorded in Belgium since the start of the COVID-19 crisis.

In the past 24 hours, 4300 tests have been performed, which have been positive for 1580 people. Since mid-March, 24,983 people have been diagnosed positive with a laboratory test.
