UK Black Lives Matter Activist Sasha Johnson Shot In The Head

Sasha Johnson

 Sasha Johnson

Sasha Johnson is in critical condition in hospital after being shot in the head in London. The Black Lives Matter activist and member of the Taking the Initiative Party attended a gathering in the early hours of Sunday (May 23) morning in Southwark.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed a 27-year-old was critically injured in a shooting just before 3am.

According to the BBC, the activist was taken to a south London hospital with life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated.

As doctors were looking after Ms. Johnson, police were combing through the shooting scene to find any evidence that would explain what happened.

The shooting happened near a house party in Southwark, and there were multiple people in the area.

Detectives have said at this stage there's nothing to suggest Sasha was targeted in the shooting.

The Specialist Crime Command believes the shooting was random.

"While the investigation is at an early stage, there is nothing to suggest that the woman who was shot was the subject of a targeted attack or that she had received any credible threats against her prior to this incident," the Command said in a statement.

However, the Taking the Initiative Party has contradicted that sentiment and believes Sasha was directly targeted as a result of her activism.

"It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has been brutally attacked and sustained a gunshot wound to her head. She is currently in intensive care and in a critical condition," the party wrote.

"The attack happened in the early hours of this morning, following numerous death threats as a result of her activism.

"Sasha has always been actively fighting for Black people and the injustices that surround the Black community, as well as being both a member of BLM and a member of the Taking the Initiative Party's Executive Leadership Committee.

"Sasha is also a mother of 2 and a strong, powerful voice for our people and our community. Let's all come together and pray for Sasha, pray for her recovery, and show our support to her family and loved ones.

Do Black Lives Really Matter In Africa?

An image that went viral of a two-year-old Nigerian child accused of being a witch and rescued by a Scandinavian woman, Anja Ringgren

An image that went viral of a two-year-old Nigerian child accused of being a witch and rescued by a Scandinavian woman, Anja Ringgren

Before Africans will be genuinely accepted by the developed world as normal human beings like everyone and be free from oppression, discrimination, racism, and sub-human conditions, they must first learn to respect and love themselves.

There is no love at all in Africa, and the cruelties emanating from every part of the continent against fellow Africans because of poverty, greed, nepotism, tribalism, and corruption are dividing the people and causing hardships to others.

Decades after the abolition of slavery, colonialism, and Apartheid, Africans and African-Americans continue to suffer in the hands of successive governments that are interested in building high walls of institutional racism to deny the black man equal opportunities.

Thanks to the late George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter Movement, things have changed for African-Americans today, but what about Africa, a continent plagued by the viruses of hate, corruption, tribalism, nepotism, and contract assassinations?

It's dehumanizing and barbaric to see children and old people accused of witchcraft and being lynched by people across Africa, in videos on YouTube. Do Africans know what Europeans or Americans think about the continent if they watch such videos on YouTube?

Africa, the place often referred to as the dark continent in terms of color, in reality, is inhabited by tribes and clans that, from the ancestral period influenced by traditional custom and superstition, often accuse old people as witches.

Nobody talks about or accuses someone of witchcraft in the developed world, but only in Africa, where such issues are very common, and to me, illiteracy, hardships, and superstition play roles in these accusations.

As one of the centers of underdevelopment, Africans face many problems and hardships beyond their control. These unfortunate circumstances are often blamed on innocent old women accused of witchcraft.

In sub-Saharan Africa, long-term unfavorable population trends are combined with dire poverty and high-income inequality, dire health care, education, high unemployment, and large-scale forced migration.

Most struggling Africans don't consider these problems; instead, they blame innocent people, accusing them of witchcraft, and it's really agonizing to watch these videos in an open window across the world and wonder what the developed world thinks about Africa.

In terms of the diversity, scale, and intertwining of social problems, Africa stands out as a poverty-stricken continent in the developing world. There are so many resources on the continent of Africa than on any other continent in the world, yet Africans continue to live in miserable conditions.

Till now, many societies in Africa are completely immersed in beliefs such as witchcraft, ghosts, spirits, etc, putting the lives of many people, including children and old women, in danger.

An ugly scene of a 90-year-old woman accused of being a witch in Ghana

An ugly scene of a 90-year-old woman accused of being a witch in Ghana

AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis are among the main causes of high mortality in the African population, and all these problems affect and frustrate others to accusations of witchcraft.

Therefore, it doesn't make sense at all when old women are beaten up and the videos are uploaded on YouTube. That is not the trademark of Africa. In whatever we do, Africans must show maturity and wisdom to convince the developed world that we have aims and objectives.

If African leaders are not interested in protecting old women accused of witchcraft in Africa, they must ban the upload of such videos on YouTube because it not only degrades Africans but also allows the developed world to commit more crimes in Africa.

Not All White People Are Racist

A white woman supporting the 'Black Lives Matter' Movement

A white woman supporting the 'Black Lives Matter' Movement

It is not an exaggeration,  Black history is very bitter and at the same time, they are people that have suffered a great deal through slavery, colonization, Apartheid, and deliberate disease infections but the true fact is not every white man or white people are racist.

In Belgium, I have enjoyed the company of many good white people that have nothing to do with the color. They give everyone whether white or black, love, and respect.

In Africa, I used to see written at the rear of some vehicles, 'Travel and See,' these three words mean a lot. I fully understood the concept behind this to know that most people who hate black people are those that never travel.

Yes, it's true, white people that travel a lot are never racists because they have learned a lot through the diversity of culture. Even though many call white people racists, there are also black racists full of hate.

Why do people hate others because of the color of their skin? Why do people hate others because of their religion? There is nothing more satisfying on earth than peace and love.

The two are the most important things in life that everyone needs because they create a good society. If you are a human being and you don't have them, you must cultivate it to live peacefully and happily with your neighbor.

Columbus Was In Trouble Before 'Black Lives Matter' Demonstrators Pulled Down His Statue

The fall of the statue of Christopher Columbus in Saint Paul Minnesota

The fall of the statue of Christopher Columbus in Saint Paul, Minnesota

The world is bleeding because world leaders that often put criminals behind bars are the same leaders in the United States of America and many European countries that, for centuries, have been aiding and supporting crimes committed by some historical figures linked to slavery and colonial brutalities.

You can't apologize for slavery when statues like those of Francis Drake and Christopher Columbus are standing on this earth since they continuously remind descendants of slavery of bitter memories.

You can't apologize for colonial aggression and brutality while there are statues of King Leopold II all over Belgium commemorating his achievements of killing thousands of Africans, including women and children.

What Black people know is there are some white people out there that want the Black man to feel stupid, but we shall not feel the way they want us to be.

From historical time till now, all that we read every day is "the first white man to do this and the first white man to do that"; hardly anyone reads "the first Black man to do this."

Frankly speaking, white people have claimed to be the first men to do every good thing on this earth but not the first white man to carry shit because that is bad. Yet history acknowledges the fact that civilization commenced in Africa.

People who doubt that must first read about Egypt and the ancient city in Mali, West Africa, called Timbuktu.

After the brutal murder of George Floyd, an African-American, by white racist officers, Black people who are fed up with such killings with impunity took to the streets, not only in America but also in other countries around the globe.

This enabled the 'Black Lives Matter' movement, which came into existence in 2013, to stand firm against those unnecessary and senseless killings of African-Americans.

The 'Black Lives Matter' demonstrators demanded the pulling down of certain historical figures commemorating and linking to slavery, such as Christopher Columbus in Saint Paul, Minnesota; King Leopold II in Belgium; and Robert Milligan, a slave owner in London.

Yet many, including American President Donald Trump, are objecting to the removal of those statues.

There are many historical facts that aren't accurate; for example, before the demonstrators stormed the streets after the death of George Floyd, there had already been the demand for Christopher Columbus statues to be broken down.

Historians argue that it's not possible that Christopher Columbus was the first man to discover America because there were already Native Americans—Arawak Indians—before he arrived in America.

Thus, many reggae musicians not pleased over those historical lies have already played songs against Christopher Columbus. Two such musicians are the Jamaican reggae stars, 'Burning Spear' and Joseph Hill, the lead singer of the group called 'Culture.'

African-Americans, or Black people in general, will not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but it’s time to denounce racism and discrimination and seek equal opportunities because Black Lives Matter too. The red color of blood in white is the same in black.

The Intrepid ‘Public Enemy’s Role In The Emancipation Of Black People Through Music

Left, Flavor Flav and Chuck D

Left, Flavor Flav and Chuck D

In the 1930s, the name commonly used to describe individuals whose activities are seen as a threat became the name of a controversial African-American hip-hop group in the late 80s, as ‘Public Enemy.’

How did this musical group that later became so famous revolutionize racist America through their music? And what role did they play in bringing African-Americans, or Black people in general, this far before the continuation of the 'Black Lives Matter' force?

400 years ago, a ship carrying human cargo from Africa landed at the shores of the United States of America. Decades after the abolition of slavery, physical and psychological abuse, and denial of freedom and equal opportunities, African-Americans have put the bitter memories of slavery behind them to move forward.

Thousands of African-Americans have excelled in a manner that has shocked institutionalized-racist America. Instead of being recommended, camouflaged-democratic-racist America is now killing the African-Americans they brought from Africa to build their colonies with blood, sweat, and tears because they don't want them to be successful.

"God's ways are mysterious," they say; out of the lion carcass, the sweet honey was formed. Surviving the brutal ordeal of slavery through spiritual music, African-Americans now dominate R&B and the hip-hop music scene, which started very early with Public Enemy and Run D.M.C. before inspiring many music groups such as A Tribe Called Quest, Nutty By Nature, and other independent musicians such as LL Cool J, KRS-One, Queen Latifah, and many others.

When Public Enemy made their presence felt in the musical mainstream in the late 1980s, their intention was to seek recognition for the Black man, not only African-Americans. They demonstrated that through the names of their music: It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Fear of a Black Planet, Rebel without a Pause, and, most famously, Fight the Power.

The politically conscious and eloquent Carlton Douglas Ridenhour, popularly known as Chuck D, with William Jonathan Drayton, better known as Flavor Flav (no longer with the group), expressed the oppression and persecution of Black people, or African-Americans, through music, despite the victories of the Civil Rights movement in the 60s.

The group, through the video 'Can't Truss It,' showed how the slave masters abused their power and cruelly dehumanized and raped African-American women, slaves. The music group 'Public Enemy,' itself, wasn't violent, but the message of the music was sharper than a double-edged sword. In reality, their music changed and improved the lives of African-Americans in a way they weren't expecting.

Public Enemy's 'Fight The Power' music video is an example of the cry for justice that has eluded African-Americans in a so-called democratic America.

Since the eruption of demonstrations after the brutal murder of George Floyd, Google, the owner of YouTube, has denied the access of showing the videos of Public Enemy on other platforms.

However, a movement under the slogan 'Black Lives Matter,' which exists but has been inactive for some time, suddenly jumped in to continue the similar work of Public Enemy, following the murder of the African-American, George Floyd, by white racist police, spreading to Europe and other countries around the globe.

African-Americans still have a long way to go, but if, through civil rights movements, organizations, and music, they have reached so far, then the victory of collapsing the built-in institutional racism in America is much closer than expected.

African-Americans, or Black people in general, shall overcome.

WHAT IS THE COLOR OF GOD?

The sky has beautiful colors above us, yet no one knows the color of God

The sky has beautiful colors above us, yet no one knows the color of God

"Do not stare at me because I am dark, because I am darkened by the sun. My mother's sons were angry with me and made me take care of the vineyards; my own vineyard I had to neglect."

This Biblical quotation can be traced at Song of Solomon 1:6.

Even though the Bible is said to be inspired by men of God, it is likely that before the white missionaries reached on the continent of Africa, most of the contents in the Holy Book have been changed to favor a particular race just to dominate another race.

Because there are some verses in the Bible that put readers into very deep thinking, wondering how could this appear in the Holy Book.

According to the Bible in Genesis 1:27, "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."

While the same Bible tells us at Ephesians 6:5, "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ."

So if God created man in his own image, then who are the earthly masters and who are the slaves? There should be neither earthly masters nor slaves, even though all of us can't be equal because of different professions and academic backgrounds.

I can work for you and being paid for the services I am rendering to you. That doesn't make me a slave. Thus, creating barriers and denying the rights and freedom of people to be slaves, were evil plans of man. This doesn't come from God.

Many have reasons to believe that the Bible was tampered with, the fact that when Jesus came on earth to fulfill the mission His father gave him, there wasn't any camera. Jesus came decades before the birth of modern technology.

Isaiah described Jesus as "For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of the dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him."

And also Daniel the prophet, described Jesus by saying "I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude."

So who among the men inspired by God, his disciples, or his followers had a camera to take a photograph of Jesus for us to see him today in the Holy Bible of a man with long hair and blue eyes?

Fortunately or unfortunately, the invincible photographer took the picture of the devil, and the color was black.

These are some of the reasons many have lost faith in Christianity today because there are certain things in the Bible that aren't accurate. They were changed by deceitful people to dominate another race, unfortunately, that race is the black people today.

The reason Africa alone is the continent among the seven continents that has suffered all kinds of cruelties, including slavery, colonial brutality, Apartheid, and biological weapons of HIV-Aids, Ebola, and other man-made diseases.

Nobody can ever claim of seeing the face of God, even the great prophets and those that had communication with the Almighty, including Moses, couldn't stare into the eyes of God because the holy book has made clear to us at John 4:24, "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

Why does the world suffer violence today over racial problems because of your ignorance, pride, greed, and lack of understanding? Why should people become subjects of oppression and domination because of the color of his or her skin?

South African reggae legend, Lucky Dube sings, "bury down Apartheid and fight war and crime

After death, according to Ecclesiastes 12:7, "the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit or the soul returns to God who gave it."

Therefore, those white people killing blacks because of racial prejudice, are just wasting their time. Firstly, no one lives forever, and secondly, killing a black man is not a full task of eliminating him from the surface of this earth.

If they don't want to see the face of the black man again, then both his body and the spirit must be destroyed completely. The latter is what they can't destroy because the spirit belongs to God. That means white killers, you have been defeated by the black man.

What Does Kevin De Bruyne's 'Black Lives Matter' Jersey Mean To Belgium?

Kevin De Bruyne and others support the Black Lives Matter movement following the murder of the African-American George Floyd. Photo credit: rtl.be/sport

Kevin De Bruyne is a Belgian professional football player who will be 29 on June 28, 2020. His prowess in football as a midfield player has enabled him to play for the league club Manchester City and the Belgian National Team.

After a hundred days of the English Premier League suspension due to the coronavirus, Manchester City and Arsenal players exhibited jerseys on the soccer field with the inscription 'Black Lives Matter' behind.

Following the brutal murder of the African-American, George Floyd, many organizations and football players around the globe have shown solidarity and supported the 'Black Lives Matter' movement, since there is also a serious issue of racism in football.

Manchester City player Kevin De Bruyne was among other players to denounce racism in soccer as he knelt on the field. However, I strongly believe De Bruyne's action may trigger many questions of interest.

The footballer comes from Belgium, a country that has hailed and supported colonial crimes by erecting statues and naming streets after Leopold II, a king who maimed, hacked the wrists and limbs of children, and killed thousands of Congolese.

Why, for decades, has it never been a subject of interest to Kevin De Bruyne and other Belgian players, including Romelu Lukaku and Vincent Kompany, to speak about that inglorious statue of Leopold II, which has brought shame, disrespect, and insults to the Black man?

You need to consider people who deliberately do the wrong things yet pretend they have done something good very dangerous. That is both the Belgian government and its royal family. If there isn't any statue for Hitler for killing Jews, then there shouldn't be any statue for Leopold II for killing Africans, because we are all human beings.

The color of a person doesn't matter more than the brain he has; therefore, this color issue was just institutionalized as a barrier for the greedy white people to oppress other people to work as slaves for them, leading to slavery, colonial brutalities, and apartheid.

Marc Dutroux is a Belgian convicted pedophile who killed children. He was convicted in 1989 for the abduction and rape of five young girls, and in 2004, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the abduction, rape, and killings of young girls.

Since 2004, I have been waiting for the Belgian government to unveil the statue of Dutroux, but it has never happened. Sometimes I wonder why a country that has gained world recognition in beer and chocolate production would ruin its reputation in this manner.

Surprisingly, despite all the problems, including demonstrations and hate that have been generated against the government and the royal family over those stupid statues, the Belgian government wasn't prepared to remove them until angry protesters defaced one of Leopold's statues in Ekeren, one of Belgium's municipalities.

The removal of Leopold's statue in Ekeren has a voice that, if the Belgian government or the royal family is wise, they should listen to. Also, Kevin De Bruyne's jersey has a message that, if they listen carefully, they will hear.

Already, statues serving slavery and colonial interests are being pulled down. The Belgian government and the royal family shouldn't wait for another 'George Floyd' to be killed, followed by riots, before they consider pulling down the senseless Leopold's statues.

A word to the wise is enough.

Why ‘All Lives Matter’ Misses the Truth About Racial Injustice

Demonstrators in front of the painting of murdered George Floyd

There is jealousy and hate emerging from many parts of the world, not because George Floyd was brutally murdered by white racist police officers, but because the spirit of this man who couldn't breathe and was calling for his mama has changed the world.

Priti Patel and Britain’s Double Standards on Black Lives Matter

On May 25, 2020, a 46-year-old African-American or Black man called George Floyd was brutally murdered by white racist police officers in the United States of America. This sparked demonstrations, riots, and looting around the world, including in America and the United Kingdom.

DO BLACK LIVES MATTER IN BELGIUM?

Defaced statue of King Leopold II following the demonstrations over the brutal murder of George Floyd

Defaced statue of King Leopold II following the demonstrations over the brutal murder of George Floyd

In Ghana, my country of birth, there is a proverb which says: "Out of every misfortune comes a blessing," that means even though it's unfortunate George Floyd, the African-American, brutally murdered by white police officers is dead and gone, yet the outcome of his death has changed the mind of how many people view black people.

The brutal murder of George Floyd, an African-American in the United States of America, by racist white police officers, sparked riots and demonstrations across the globe, including some European countries, that saw the barbaric and inhuman video of the officer who pinned down Mr. Floyd by kneeling on his neck for approximately 9 minutes.

The black man has no mouth to speak, has no platform to make his voice heard, thus, so-called America and European powers have taken it as an opportunity to cause damage and destabilize the economies on the African continent, just to create pressure, panic, fear, and difficulties for African leaders to depend on them.

The pain they are not ready to pass through is what they unleash on Africans, including African-Americans because slavery has been abolished, colonial power has succumbed to independence, and Apartheid has bowed to democracy.

Europeans and American leaders continue to cause damage to the continent of Africa with all kinds of brutalities, including biological weapons, such as HIV-Aids, Ebola, Burkitt's lymphoma, Kaposi's sarcoma and nodding disease.

False and corrupt scientists supporting the lies of the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control, called the latter 'Strange Disease.'

Belgium is no different from other European countries and the United States of America that for years continue to kill Africans and looted their countries to enrich themselves. Congo was then the personal property of Belgium, known as 'Belgian-Congo, under the rulership of the lunatic King Leopold II, who maimed and killed over 10 million Congolese.

What's their crime? They failed to supply the quantity of rubber Leopold II wants them to produce in a day for the demand of the automobile industry in Europe and the United States of America. Men's hands were chopped, genitals were tied, and huts burned down. Children and women were not spared. They were brutally dismembered.

Despite the magnitude of those horrible crimes against humanity, Belgium mocked the victims and congratulated the perpetrator, King Leopold II, by naming streets after him throughout Belgium and built statues in his honour. We don’t have to blame God, for the evil in this world, because God is not part of this.

My Experience in Belgium as a writer

As a matter of fact, I have been in Belgium not too long, yet I think twenty years in the country is long enough to tell anyone my experience in a country which history with black people is so bitter that many even consider their pets, such as dogs and cats valuable than the black man.

Even though things are rapidly changing in Belgium, they still have a lot to do to show the world that they are civilized people. Today, I see black Belgians that have studied very high given them the opportunity to work in good establishments like the white Belgians. Today, I see a black man, Vincent Kompany, as the captain of Belgium's National Team, "The Red Devils."

Belgium has no respect for the black man just like how some view African-Americans. In my efforts to my books, I became a laughing stock just because a black man is writing books. I can still remember the question a woman asked me, "You, you write books?'

This question even reveals how shallow-minded some Belgians are, even though many of their journalists haven't even written a single book, yet many of them underestimate an African journalist that has written eight books.

I have a philosophy they know very well, I don't respect anyone who doesn't respect me. I will keep that philosophy until the time I will go down into my grave.

When one of the Belgian Royal Family, Queen Matilde, followed me on Twitter, she thought that could help from hitting against Belgium. After seeing a series of attacks of my articles still coming, she quickly unfollowed. I tweeted, "She can't bribe me or buy my compromise."

After demonstrations spread across the United States of America and some European countries, some of the reachable statues of Leopold II were defaced.

Years back, I wrote to the then Belgium Prime Minister, Charles Michel, and the Royal Family in Brussels, painstakingly explaining why Leopold II's statues need to be demolished and streets named after him changed. If there is no statue of Adolf Hitler for killing six million Jews, there shouldn't be Leopold's statue for killing 10 million Africans.

The gentleman, then Belgium Prime Minister, Charles Michel, wrote to me but the Royal Family failed to do so, yet Belgium is a country that once had a so-called intelligent woman called Annemie Turtelboom, who was then the Justice Minister. In fact, the black man in Belgium has never had any justice in the country till now.

Many Belgians have no respect for black people because they are ignorant and insincere to admit the fact that without Congo, Belgium will be one of the poorest countries in Europe. They continue to disrespect black people today but the fact is it is not necessary for a black man to trumpet about his intelligence as most of the white people do.

Because they know too well that the black man is not stupid the reason they don't want to give black people a breathing space. Out of jealousy and hate, they find it hard to watch a black man progressing and will do everything to bring him down.

Some years back when I went to the notorious Stuivenberg Hospital in Antwerp to investigate the abnormally high death of Africans in that hospital, they call me a crazy man but today, that same hospital is one of the safest hospitals after publishing my book about the stealing of black people body organs in the hospital.

There will be a time, whether dead or alive in Belgium, there will be no single Leopold II statue anywhere in the country and all the names of streets named after him will be changed before they will enjoy the peace they are looking for ages yet they can't find.

THE USE OF BLACK PEOPLE IN AMERICAN POLITICS

Are blacks important when it comes to politics in America? Hillary Clinton, Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

Are blacks important when it comes to politics in America? Hillary Clinton, Beyoncé, and Jay-Z.

There was a time in America when the black man couldn't vote, on public transport, he had to stand for the white to sit down, and he was deprived of many things because of his color.

Racism was so strong that the Ku Klux Klan was happy to be recognized as a hate group. Hanging and the lynching of black people occurred repeatedly with impunity because their skin color was considered inferior.

Like a movie, blacks are killed daily. In fact, it's easy to see the body of a black on the streets of America shot by the police than a white American, so I am now wondering why all of a sudden American politicians are now using the people they once rejected and ignored to solicit votes?

African-Americans, like native Africans, had suffered a great deal. They didn't call for slavery, but greed and cheap labor. America and Europe's desire for so much inspired them to invade Africa and capture Africans across the Atlantic to Europe and America as slaves.

Many believe that slavery still exists in many ways after the abolition, but the question is: Does it also exist in politics? The recent images of Hillary Clinton with Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z are another example of how black people are used by some politicians, and then later the police assassin bullets turn on them.

Just imagine the nature of America's politics now. It's in a complete crisis that many don't even know what comes tomorrow. Hypocrisy, blackmailing, witch-hunting, and other criminal activities are now what America's politics are made of.

If 'Black Lives Matter' in America, it should have been the task of every American, including Hillary Clinton, to show it, but not Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, or Patrisse Cullors. Thus, in my opinion, Hillary Clinton's dependence on black celebrities for votes is pure hypocrisy and fake. There is no love behind this.

I live in Belgium. There is no statute of Adolf Hitler because he killed six million Jews, but there is a statue of Leopold II because he killed over ten million Africans, including women and children. Many American politicians visit Brussels, but none have told the Belgian government to demolish it.

Respect is not a commodity sold at the supermarket. So if Africans and African-Americans want to be respected, they should begin to think and do everything as human beings. That will break the psychological chain still holding many people.

African-Americans can forget everything, but they shouldn't forget this story. Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor black tobacco farmer whose cells were taken without her knowledge in 1951. They became one of the most important tools in medicine, vital for developing the polio vaccine, cloning, gene mapping, and more.

Henrietta’s cells have been bought and sold by the billions, yet she remains virtually unknown, and her family can’t afford health insurance.

Such an emotional story should be in the mind of African-Americans daily and ponder over it to determine if America really loves and cares about them, or only when votes are needed in American politics.
