BREAK YOURSELF FREE FROM DEPRESSION

Suicide tendencies can be eliminated by seeing the doctor or praying

Suicide tendencies can be eliminated by seeing the doctor or through prayer

Everyone has wonderful hopes, dreams, and expectations of their future, but many times what we are looking for never comes our way. Some of us have been robbed of our joy through the loss of a loved one, and many feel lonely and hopeless when they find themselves in abusive homes and domestic violence.

In such a troubled world, it's very easy to see the ailments of society taking their toll on people. The high rate of unemployment and divorce are also some of the causes leading to depression. It's not surprising that psychologists have confirmed that the ailments of people can be traced to the homes and environments they were raised.

We understand that as human beings, we are bound to face difficulties in our lives. The important question is: How do we handle those problems we experience? According to the World Federation for Mental Health, depression is a significant contributor to the global burden of disease and affects people in all communities across the world.

Today, depression is estimated to affect 350 million people. The World Mental Health Survey conducted in 17 countries found that, on average, about 1 in 20 people reported having an episode of depression. But do you know that you have the power to overcome loneliness and depression?

Why do some people easily succumb to depression, and others don't? Resist? The happy people we often meet on the street are not superhumans. They are only happy because experience in life has taught them that happiness is within oneself. You have the power to make yourself happy or miserable.

Someone can make you unhappy, prevent your success, or do everything to hurt you, but so long as you are a living being, you have the power, desire, inspiration, or everything it takes to liberate yourself from that misery, loneliness, or depression.

Fear, anxiety, depression, and loneliness can be easily prevented than you know. Instead of living on drugs and alcohol, which can rather increase your psychological problems, some recommended steps can keep one far from loneliness and depression.

Reading interesting books as a hobby can capture your imagination to avoid depression.

If you love to stay at home, please cultivate the habit of taking a walk through the gardens, doing window shopping, and joining social clubs. Going to the gym to exercise once or twice a week not only keeps you fit but also psychologically healthy.

You may have a hidden talent, but you don't know. Find out what you are very good at, follow it, and start blogging to create your happiness.

Another important factor is financial matters, which often wear people down psychologically. When facing financial problems, you need a healthy mind to find your way out, not a depressed mind.

I can't do it, I'm not sure I can succeed, there is nothing left for me in life, they are all 'symptoms' of depression. Take away the shackles from your body and free your mind from the psychological chain damaging your health.

Never waste your time on someone who doesn't love you. He or she will never be satisfied, even if you sacrifice your whole life. Be always calm and aspire to greater things in life because the power of positive thinking works.

SUICIDE: Is that the ultimate remedy for life turmoil?

A victim of depression which often leads to suicidal tendencies

A victim of depression which often leads to suicidal tendencies

How would you feel as parents, when the police come knocking at your door, to tell you that “Your son committed suicide this morning on his way to school?”

I don’t think any parent love to hear this, yet many receive reports about suicide in their homes daily. The rate of teen suicide is abnormal, leaving indelible scars on families as they try to recover.

According to teen suicide awareness statistics, every year there are approximately 10 youth suicides for every 100,000 youth, approximately 11 suicides every day and a person under twenty-five commits suicide every two hours and eleven minutes.

Fortunately, many suicide victims survive to share their stories, with little help to stop those who have decided not to live anymore.

What is the force behind this alarming rate of teenage suicide?

The world is constantly changing from bad to worse, as we live in an environment plagued by diverse problems and sufferings.

The present generation teenagers are stubborn, brazenly challenging every authority including parents. Many of the youths were raised in an environment of drug violence and abuse homes, significantly affecting their upbringing.

At school students keep on bullying other students, throwing food at them if they look different from other students. Continually facing this problem daily, one is quickly driven to depression when he can’t take it any longer.

Other factors that have increased youth suicide are the death of a loved one, serious illness, loss of hope, intense emotional pain, bitter parents’ divorce, victims of rape and other psychological problems.

Whatever problem one faces, is it right to commit suicide? As an African, I feel very comfortable when I take a few things from that continent to share.

Despite the daily struggle, ethnic conflicts, corruption, sicknesses etc; suicide is rare in Africa. Teenagers do not commit suicide. Why? Because the Holy Bible the white man brought to Africa to deceive our ancestors, has saved Africans from that abominable act, while in Europe and America only a few know about the significance of the Holy Bible.

Abraham Lincoln said, "Train up a child in a way that he should go, and he will not depart from it.” This great quote reminds parents of their responsibilities as mothers and fathers in bringing up children. Hundreds of teenagers smoke because their parents smoke.

You can’t tell a fourteen-year-old child not to smoke, whilst the parents smoke heavily.

The hospital is there to solve many health problems but sometimes prayer is the right step to both psychological and spiritual healing.

Many teenage suicides could have been prevented if parents take interest to provide help, talk to their children to know what is really bothering them and find an immediate solution.

SUICIDE, IS THAT THE ONLY OPTION TO ESCAPE LIFE TURMOILS?

Depression often leads to suicide, but you can overcome those suicidal tendencies

Depression often leads to suicide, but you can overcome those suicidal tendencies.

In response to extreme life problems, such as poverty, emotional pain, marriage problems, child abuse, debt, poor health, emotional upset, terrible living conditions, mental disorders, injury, chronic disease, and a lot of others, many choose to take their own life.

Unfortunately, the people seemed not to value life any longer and would rather resort to this act that the scriptures speak against in the Holy Bible.

I have never met any suicide victim before because it's only a few who survive when quickly saved. But one day I met a beautiful mother of two nice daughters in Antwerp, at the central library, and we became friends.

During our conversation, she told me the stupid thing she did when she was seventeen. She jumped over a bridge and fell onto a highway to end her life, but no vehicle ran over her.

As I look at her, I know that she was saved because the Lord wants her to survive to tell others not to attempt suicide during emotional stress or any other problem.

Then I asked her if she has faith in God. She shuddered negatively but said she believes there is a certain spirit that guides us. I said Yes! That unseen spirit that guides us is the Lord, Jesus, the unseen guest.

In fact, suicide is an evil thing to do. I feel sorry for those who take other people's lives by their own request when gravely ill. The wounds suicide leaves in the lives of those left behind are often deep and long-lasting.

Many people underestimate the Bible. But that Holy Book is powerful in healing a tormented mind than the doctor's prescription.

Pray without ceasing in the time of distress and see the miraculous result afterward. Life is beautiful and precious, so we mustn't waste it.
