Fire hydrants are needed nationwide by the Ghanaian government

A fire hydrant

A fire hydrant

How easy is it to fight fire in Ghana? Most likely, there aren't enough fire hydrants in any of the towns or cities in Ghana. Like many African countries, Ghana faces the challenges of fighting fire and saving properties whenever there are outbreaks of fire.

People throughout their lives try to amass as much property as possible but usually forget that one day, within a few minutes, they could lose everything that they have struggled for through a fire disaster.

During a fire, it spreads so fast that sometimes you do not have time to look back, as several buildings are engulfed in flames. For many centuries, humanity has been confronted with this problem, resulting in entire cities and villages being burnt out.

When extinguishing a fire, water is the main means of fighting the fire. Therefore, to make it easy to prevent the destruction of properties or the loss of lives, almost all public buildings, offices, and strategic points in the cities are provided with an external fire water supply (fire hydrant).

For example,  cities throughout Europe and the United States of America are provided with a network of fire hydrants used by fire brigades as a water source. The fire water supply system is designed to ensure the supply of the required volumes of water at the required pressure for a standard time to extinguish the fire.

There are two types of fire hydrants: ground and underground. Ground hydrants are installed on the surface of the earth, and underground hydrants are located in a closed hatch. The surface fire hydrants are located mainly along the roads at a distance of no more than two and a half meters from the edge of the carriageway.

Upon arrival at the site of the fire, the fire brigade quickly connects the water hose on the vehicle to the stationary fire hydrant and starts extinguishing the fire. Depending on how fast the fire is spreading, two or three fire tankers can work on a fire.

It will be recalled that in the middle of heavy floods, an explosion at a petrol station in Accra killed at least 150 people. Per the rules of fire, developing countries need fire hydrants, which the fire brigade can depend on whenever a fire occurs, because the absence or lack of water during a fire can turn into a tragedy.

Why do Ghanaians always have to beg the government to be serious about certain life-saving projects when, after all, the result of the operational work of the fire departments is not only saving properties but also saving lives?

Making bicycles a safe choice of transportation in Ghana

The Oxford Dictionary defines ‘vehicle’ as a conveyance for transporting passengers or goods on land or in space. In this case, besides a car, a lorry, trains, and an airplane, a bicycle is also accepted as a means of transport to use on the road.

That means a cyclist has the right to use the road without any horn hooting or harassment of the rider by other road users. Integrated transport policy is not viable without the implementation of structures allowing the development of cycling.

There are many reasons the bicycle is essential to users. The bicycle enables one to get somewhere very fast when there is a traffic hold-up. It is energizing to use a bicycle, and it eliminates stress.

Among all transport, it is the cheapest, as you don’t need fuel and no license is required. Ecologically, the manufacturing and use of a bicycle, as well as the planning of space for its use, create much less solid waste and no pollution.

In Ghana, bicycles play a major role as a means of transport in the North for farmers who have no other means of getting to their farms and homes. However, at the moment, bicycles are fast emerging as an urban means of transport in Europe.

Transportation is a problem in most big cities. It is therefore not a crime for a cyclist to get to work or wherever he intends to go on a bicycle. However, on the road, some road users think the cyclist has no right at all to be on the street. They torment cyclists with the blaring of horns and even scream at them at times.

It is very frustrating to most drivers when a cyclist is ahead of them or at any inconvenient place along the road, since bicycles can cause traffic on a busy road.

Some cyclists have contributed to road accidents many times, but that doesn’t mean that they have no right to use the road; after all, are motorists also involved in road accidents?

Walking through the city of Accra, there is nowhere one can find a bicycle route on the side of the major roads. For example, the Accra–Kasoa road is a very well-constructed road, but it was constructed without any bicycle lane.

In Europe, a circulation plan aiming to develop cycling was approved in the ’80s. Revised annually, it considers the implementation of a network of cycle lanes and the transformation of parking places into bicycle parking.

This network is built in order to reinforce the safety of cyclists, with stop signposts placed before those for cars and crossroads redesigned for cyclists.

In Ghana, roads are constructed without any consideration for bicycle users. Nothing is planned in the country by taking the future into consideration.

I believe that if the government implements the construction of bicycle routes in its future projects, there will be a free flow of traffic in the cities, and that would also help to reduce the traffic holdups that motorists are currently facing.

It’s a well-known fact that a lack of finance is one of the major setbacks affecting Africa’s infrastructure and projects. But if a specific project would be a solution or an answer to a problem, then the government should take it into consideration.

For example, in Europe, to prevent traffic jams and ensure the safety of cyclists, the Netherlands has been successful with bicycle routes running throughout the towns and cities. A journey of about 50 to 100 km could easily be done by bicycle.

In Trondheim, Norway, a bicycle lift has been put up in the center of the town to facilitate access to another town called Brubakken, and in Belgium, a bicycle tunnel has been built under the sea to link the two cities of Antwerp and Linkeroever.

It takes ten to twelve minutes to go to Linkeroever from the city of Antwerp, while the bus takes about twenty minutes.

As Ghana gradually matures into a great nation, the government must include the construction of bicycle routes in its future road projects. Bicycles play a very significant role, not only as a means of transport but also as a promoter of good health.

The number of flood-related deaths in Texas has risen to 50, with 15 toddlers and 27 young girls still unaccounted for from the inundated Camp Mystic. Searches for survivors are rapidly coming to an end, despite rescuers continuing to search the damaged area in central Texas. The unexpected disaster has shocked and saddened people all around the world.

Kerr County was the hardest hit, especially the sections around the Guadeloupe River, where a rare downpour of rain caused the water levels to rise by 26 feet in just forty-five minutes. A little over a third of a year's worth of rain dropped in a few hours, causing an "extraordinary catastrophe" and entirely overflowing the canals.

Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha stated, "We have recovered 43 deceased individuals in Kerr County."There are 15 youngsters and 28 adults among those who have passed away. The current confirmed death toll stands at 50 after numerous deaths in neighboring counties, while this number is regrettably predicted to increase.

A group of school-age girls who vanished from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp beside the river, are the subject of the most urgent search. Dorm rooms are littered with soaked mattresses and teddies, according to heartbreaking images taken from the destroyed location.

Sheriff Leitha reported that 27 of the kids were still unaccounted for on Saturday. All of the missing children's parents have been informed, and many of them have taken to social media to make fervent requests for details about their daughters. According to local sources, their families have confirmed the deaths of up to five girls.

The anguished mother of 9-year-old Janie Hunt informed CNN that her daughter was one of the fatalities. The body was discovered, according to a Facebook post made by Renee Smajstrla's relative, who is nine years old. Shawna Salta tweeted: "We are thankful she was with her friends and having the time of her life, as evidenced by this picture from yesterday."

Dick Eastland, the director and proprietor of Camp Mystic, is one of the confirmed dead. Hector Nieto, director of the public information office, reported that 13 persons were missing and four confirmed deceased in Travis County, northeast of Kerr, in other parts of Texas. It's still unclear how many people are missing overall.

Air, land, and water-based workers were searching the entire Guadalupe River for survivors and the corpses of the deceased, according to Nim Kidd, chief of the Texas Department of Emergency Management. "We will continue the search until all those who are missing are found," he stated.

Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, announced that he was extending the state disaster declaration and asking President Donald Trump for more federal funding. Abbott also pledged that the task would be given priority and that victims would receive round-the-clock assistance.

Honesty Is Mostly What I Need From You – Billy Joel

Billy Joel

Songwriters and musicians frequently release music with lyrics that evoke strong emotions because they relate to the everyday experiences of life. I often say that even though “the truth is not a commodity sold at the market, many people can’t afford it.” Speaking the truth can cause one to lose all of their friends and turn into an adversary right away. The song "Honesty, such a lonely word, yet everyone is so untrue" by the legendary Bill Joel evokes similar emotions in me.

People are not accustomed to discussing how honesty and its derivative, truth, can impact our satisfaction in interpersonal interactions. Few people consider how honesty affects their lives and how their personalities are shaped. Since honesty involves suffering, separation, agony, criticism, and hatred, most individuals would rather lie than be honest. From Biblical times to today’s modern world, speaking the truth can cost your head on a silver platter; therefore, people prefer to live on lies.

The concept of honesty is highly complex, since no one can tell if you're lying or not, we are all honest to some extent. Nonetheless, there are times when you alone is responsible for your words and deeds with dignity, and only you can judge if you are being truthful or not. Why should one be afraid to speak the truth because it will hurt you or others? There are instances when people think that lying has no serious negative consequences, but it does, because whatever a man sows, the same he shall reap.

Being dishonest causes one to become disoriented and confused. What is the primary risk associated with dishonesty? A person will be dishonest in another area if they are dishonest in the first. People gradually build up a network of underworld clans and deceitful organizations that can have major repercussions on humanity. Not only is it unpleasant to be caught in a lie, but it also damages our reputation and credibility. The true risk, though, is losing your integrity and dignity.

The training we received from our parents as kids included teaching us to be honest and truthful. They constantly warn us that lying is wrong and that we will be penalized for it each time we violate this rule. Adults, however, lie more than children in today's society in every industry, including the military, pharmaceutical, and political sectors. Governments everywhere, but particularly in wealthy nations, are to blame for needless conflicts that continue to claim the lives of defenseless children.

The great Billy Joel sings "Honesty."

There can’t be peace when there is no understanding because there is no honesty. Since honesty is essential to our survival, particularly in this turbulent environment, people can cultivate it where it is lacking. Being honest is difficult, but it is crucial to do it consistently; this is what I mean when I talk about cultivation. Billy Joel's song "Honesty” served as the basis for today’s outstanding article from Joel Savage.

Book review: Your action plan for weight loss

Reducing excess weight is not easy, regardless of the method you choose. Going to the gym, running great distances, or switching to a vegetarian diet are some ways that people try to lose weight, but they don't see any real results. Even while diet and exercise alone have helped many people lose weight, it takes perseverance and willpower.

Changing your perspective on what you eat can have a significant impact on your motivation and discipline because many people who have been successful at losing weight eventually start gaining it back. Sena Coffi, the author of "Your Action Plan To Weight Loss," describes his fascinating experience of dropping thirty kilograms in three months.

The author, who was once a victim of an overweight personality, describes his incredible quest to go from 130 kg (287 lbs) to a stronger, healthier version of himself, shedding 30 kg in just three months. He claims that if a cucumber farmer who isn't a fitness instructor can attain such positive outcomes to live a better and healthier life, then anyone can, and that the book contains inspiration and knowledge.

An excerpt from the book encourages anyone who wants to develop a healthy body to get a clear, doable plan, change their diet with easy guidelines (cut sugar, eat more vegetables, eat between 12 and 4 p.m.), commit to four days of exercise (such as an hour on the treadmill), and start the transformation process with a seven-day plan.

Packed with tried-and-true methods and the author's personal success, I will suggest this book to everyone who is struggling to lose weight. Why hold off? Get your copy of "Action Plan to Weight Loss" now to start your amazing life transformation.

A brief account of the author's life

Sena Coffi is a peasant farmer who graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with a degree in computer science. He has a strong regard for both academic knowledge and the wisdom gained from practical, everyday work, even though his career has taken him from lecture halls to other fields. One example of this is his contribution to Ghanaian politics on his television show, Melodies TV.

The host of Melodies TV and "I'm Sena, Let's Talk Politics" has a strong interest in politics, not from a place of ambition but rather a desire to comprehend and make a significant contribution to the structures that influence the lives of common people. Sena believes that discipline in the body frequently leads to discipline in other areas of life. He is also very passionate about exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle.

In terms of financial aspects, Sena keeps researching and studying the fields of finance and cryptocurrency, particularly as instruments that might economically empower people and communities. In addition, he cherishes his spiritual development and is deeply religious, viewing religion as a compass that guides his choices and goals.

Europe faces the threat of an abnormal heat wave

Heat wave across Europe

Europe is experiencing an unusual heat wave, with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius prompting declarations of high weather threat in Italy, France, Spain, and other nations. While labor unions are demanding a temporary ban on outdoor work, authorities have closed schools and recommended that locals stay indoors throughout the day. In the meantime, Greece and Turkey are experiencing bushfires.

In June, the temperature in the Huelva region of Spain hit a record-breaking 46 degrees Celsius. Widespread forest fires and comparable temperatures were noted in Portugal, Greece, Italy, and the Western Balkans. A January 2025 study found that the impacts of heat kill about 175 thousand individuals in the WHO European Region per year.

Temperatures have also risen to critical levels in Portugal, where two-thirds of the country is under high alert. Temperatures in Lisbon are predicted to rise over 42 degrees Celsius. In order to lower the risk of fires and safeguard the public's health, officials have declared limitations on outdoor activities during the hottest hours.

Extreme weather conditions have also impacted Italy. To lower the danger of heatstroke and other heat-related problems, outdoor employment has been prohibited during peak hours in the regions of Lazio, Tuscany, Calabria, Puglia, and Umbria. Rome, Milan, Naples, and 21 of the 27 main cities have recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.

Greece is still dealing with natural calamities, as evidenced by the massive forest fires that have already occurred there in recent weeks. As a reminder, a large fire that started south of Athens forced the evacuation of dozens of people from the island of Chios, where it burned for three days. To tackle the fire, the authorities sent out 130 firefighters, 12 helicopters, and 12 airplanes. They also evacuated 40 people from high-risk regions where the fire could spread.

Belgium has triggered the warning phase for its high heat and ozone peaks strategy as temperatures continue to rise this week. Forecasts from the Belgian Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) indicate that temperatures will rise over 25°C during the next few days, with many locations in the nation seeing temperatures as high as 34°C on Saturday.

To safeguard the safety of citizens, particularly vulnerable groups like the elderly and children, local authorities and trade unions are calling for the expansion of restrictions and the implementation of additional measures. Mobile teams have been organized to help individuals in need, and cooling and water distribution centers have already been established in several areas. Due to the risk of forest fires, Italy and Slovenia, neighboring countries, have issued a state of emergency.

Burkina Faso's Stand: Ibrahim Traoré rejects France’ exploitation in his country

Captain Ibrahim Traoré

Among the wealthiest nations in Western Europe, France boasts both political potential and a high standard of living. Even though the French nation has long handed its colonies independence, in practice, the country still exerts strong influence on African nations, especially its former colonies, internal affairs, and maintains tight control over their economies. How does France continue to govern half of Africa, and what strategies does it use to seize control that Traoré of Burkina Faso would not accept?

In French Africa, the currency known as the CFA franc, French colonial possessions, was created in 1945; however, after the colonies’ independence in the 1960s, the monetary system stayed the same. The African Financial Community is now represented by the acronym CFA, being used in 14 Francophone countries in the informal system, to improve mutual ties by using French as the official language of communication for diplomats, business, and the cultural and scientific domains.

On the one hand, the financial union provides a fixed exchange rate of the currency and its free exchange for the euro, which has a beneficial effect on the development of all participants in the association. However, on the other hand, in exchange for the guarantee of convertibility of the CFA franc, France's control of the partners has some interesting commitments.  For example, the agreement to transfer between 50 and 65 percent of its monetary reserves, which are kept in a special account, to the French Treasury.

The signing of unfair treaties between France and African nations is another way that France controls the foreign economy of its colonies in Africa. For instance, French campaigns are better able to close agreements for the exploitation of natural resources in the CFA. In other words, French firms mostly extract oil, uranium, and rare metals, and they enjoy substantial tax incentives that prevent the lessee from profiting financially from exporting their own resources.

When French firms mined uranium, they paid the government 80 cents per kilogram and then sold the uranium to the rest of the world for 200 euros per kilogram. After the Nigerian government increased its yearly resource realization from about $1 billion to over $3 billion, it finally took control of its uranium. Thomas Sankara's realization of this issue, which prompted him to sever his connections with France, ultimately led to his assassination; however, Ibrahim Traoré would not be deterred.

Like all the developed nations, including France and the United States of America, that don't want to accept "no" from African leaders, Ibrahim Traoré, who became the interim president of Burkina Faso after a coup on September 30, 2022, and has been in power since, has survived multiple assassination attempts on his life, planned by foreign governments. The former head of the United States Africa Command, Michael Elliott Langley, has revealed the long-standing tactic used by the US government.

He claims that while the Burkinabe people are hungry, Ibrahim is enhancing his security with the country's gold profits. Both Muammar Gaddafi of Libya and Saddam Hussein of Iraq were assassinated as a result of the same tactic. The latter was even accused of storing weapons of mass destruction, but nothing of that nature was discovered during the US invasion of Iraq. I would like to know, Michael Langley, when the Burkina Faso people protested that Captain Ibrahim Traoré was starving them.

It is time for the developed world to recognize that as technology improves and Africa increasingly embraces its impact on the Dark Continent, there will be leaders who are unwilling to fall for their assassination, intimidation, and bullying schemes. Why should America and Europe grow into powerful nations using African resources when the continent from which those resources are extracted is still impoverished? That is unacceptable; therefore, Africa will free itself from mental slavery.

Burkina Faso is not alone; the West African country has established strong diplomatic ties with the revolutionary regimes in Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Iran, as well as with Russia, the fiercest adversary of NATO, which is always willing to defend its nation. In the spirit of Thomas Sankara, Ibrahim Traoré has vowed to fight against imperialism and neocolonialism; therefore, if France or the US government doesn’t agree with him, then they should give him the respect he deserves.

Prostate enlargement: symptoms, causes, and cures

After the age of forty, the male prostate gland naturally enlarges; this condition is called benign prostatic hyperplasia or benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Many urination-related symptoms may result from this rise, and, additionally, you can get more severe renal and bladder issues.

Prostate adenoma can be effectively treated with a variety of methods, such as medication and surgery. Transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR of the prostate) is the most common type of prostate surgery.

Causes of an enlarged prostate

The prostate is a nut-shaped gland located immediately after the neck of the bladder. Its main function is to produce a fluid that protects and enriches sperm.

As a man ages, the prostate gland gradually increases. It usually begins after the age of 40 and is thought to be caused by hormonal changes. This increase can cause difficulty urinating and can lead to problems with the bladder and kidneys. The increase occurs as a result of hyperplasia (an increase in the number of cells) and hypertrophy (an increase in cell size).

An enlarged prostate does not cause prostate cancer. However, prostate cancer can occur in men with an enlarged prostate.

Signs and symptoms

As the prostate gland gets larger, it narrows the urethra (the tube that drains urine from the bladder) and can interfere with the outflow of urine. This can lead to problems with urination, such as:

 Increased urge to urinate

  • Uncontrollable urge to urinate
  • Nocturia – the need to get up often at night to urinate
  • Difficulty starting urine flow (indecisiveness)
  • Poor urine flow – weak flow or stop / start of flow
  • Dribbling of urine-especially at the end of urination
  • Incomplete emptying of the bladder.

The term LUTs (lower urinary tract symptoms) is commonly used to refer to a range of urinary symptoms associated with BPH.

Some men may have no symptoms at all, while others may have very severe symptoms. An enlarged prostate, if it is severe, can also lead to:

  • Chronic renal failure
  • Enlargement and thickening of the bladder walls
  • Bladder stones
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Bleeding from the urethra
  • Acute urinary retention.

Any of these situations can lead to damage to the bladder, urethra, and kidneys. If you experience burning, bleeding, or pain during urination, you should immediately consult a doctor. Not urinating at all requires urgent medical attention.

Diagnostics

If you have symptoms of prostate enlargement, you should see a doctor make an accurate diagnosis and recommend treatment. It is important to rule out other possible causes of symptoms such as prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate gland) or prostate cancer. To diagnose this condition, your doctor will do the following::

Medical history

This includes the nature, duration, and severity of current symptoms, the presence of any other medical conditions, and a family history of prostate problems.

Physical examination

During the examination, the doctor will feel the presence of signs of an enlarged bladder in the abdominal cavity and conduct a digital rectal examination to check for an enlarged prostate gland.

Blood tests

They will be performed to check kidney function and to check for PSA (prostate-specific antigen). PSA is a protein secreted into the bloodstream by the prostate gland. A higher-than-normal level may indicate an enlarged prostate or inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis) or prostate cancer. PSA levels are usually significantly elevated in prostate cancer, but not always.

Urine tests

This may indicate an infection or the presence of blood in the urine. Other urine tests can measure the force and volume of flow and determine whether the bladder can be completely emptied.

If blood tests indicate elevated PSA levels and a digital rectal examination indicates an enlarged prostate, a prostate biopsy may be recommended to rule out prostate cancer. Ultrasound scans of the prostate and urinary tract are also necessary for men over 40 years of age.

Treatments for an enlarged prostate

Treatment is only required if the enlarged prostate causes symptoms. Traditionally, three main approaches to treatment were used: “wait and see”, medical treatment, and surgical treatment.

“Wait and see” (i.e., without treatment).

This approach can be recommended if the symptoms are mild and do not negatively affect the quality of life. The condition is monitored regularly, and treatment will be recommended if symptoms worsen.

Medical treatment

Several medications can be used to treat an enlarged prostate. Some medications work by relaxing the muscles inside the prostate, making it easier to open the urethra, while others have the effect of reducing the glandular component of the prostate. Medications commonly used to treat an enlarged prostate include tamsulosin, terazosin, doxazosin, and finasteride.

Surgical treatment

Up to 25% of men with an enlarged prostate need surgery, usually because they experience serious symptoms that negatively affect their quality of life.

Some less invasive procedures have been developed recently, but since the long-term results of these new treatments are not yet known, transurethral resection of the prostate remains the most commonly performed procedure.

Transurethral resection of the prostate (TUIP)

TURP is performed by a specialist urologist (urinary system specialist) and is usually performed under general anesthesia.

A specialist inserts a resectoscope (a thin tube telescope with light at the end) through the urethra and up into the prostate gland. A specialist can view the prostate gland and bladder either through a resectoscope or on a television monitor.

A special loop removes the glandular component in fragments and then coagulates the bleeding vessels with a ball.

After TURP, you may need to stay in the clinic for one to five days. Before you go home, a specialist will recommend instructions for recovery and exercise, so it is important to follow them carefully.

Laser resection

A variation of the TURP method is laser resection of the prostate. This is done in a similar way to TURP, except that the laser beam is used to cut off prostate tissue rather than a heated wire loop. This method tends to cause less bleeding than TURP, and recovery time tends to be shortened.

Transurethral incision of the prostate (TUIP)

TUIP is similar to TURP except that the prostate tissue is not removed. Instead, one to three incisions or incisions are made into the prostate gland near the bladder neck. This releases a” ring ” of enlarged tissue, creating a larger opening around the urinary tract and therefore allowing urine to flow more freely.

Open prostatectomy

This operation involves removing part or all of the prostate gland through an incision in the lower abdomen or perineum (the area between the scrotum and the anus). It is also performed by a specialist urologist and may be recommended in cases where the prostate gland is significantly enlarged.

It is usually performed under general anesthesia. Hospital stays of up to five days are common after open prostatectomy. Again, the specialist will recommend instructions for recovery and activity.

Natural cures

Soy proteins seem to have a protective role in the development of prostate cancer, as does the lycopene present in tomatoes. In general, the health of the prostate is guaranteed by a diet and a diet rich in vegetables and fruit; it is useful to re-establish a balanced alkaline. (Basenpulver).

Best moderate saturated fat, snacks, sweets, red meat, and fried foods.

The assumption of that constant pumpkin seeds have a beneficial effect on the muscle tone of the bladder: it helps prevent disorders related to enlargement of the prostate gland and is useful in general to combat the disorders that affect the urinary tract.

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, Epilobium, also known as Epilobio, intervenes in the treatment of hyperplasia and benign prostate and, in general, improves the urinary system.

It may be useful to integrate zinc, selenium, and other antioxidants.

Here are three wonderful medicinal: Yarrow, Grapefruit seed extract, and Vitamin C.

Remember that beverages with caffeine irritate the prostate, as well as a lack of hydration, tobacco, and alcohol.

The ICT advantage: Fueling development and business in Africa

The Internet, a global system of mobile, telecommunication, and satellite communication technologies, have a huge impact on Africa, not only in terms of commerce but also in terms of enhancing community, education, and personal health.

The Black continent is positioned to emerge as the future continent. African nations must, however, go through a digital transformation to accomplish this goal, since economic digitization is essential to their growth and competitiveness.

The continent is becoming a more significant region in the current geopolitical structure of the world because of its geographic location, abundant natural resources, human capital, and promising market potential.

The days of global businesses encountering obstacles due to a lack of modern technology are long gone. The African continent's economic and demographic advancements are contributing to its growing significance in the framework of international relations due to the facilitation of modern technology.

It is undeniable that Africa is gradually benefiting from the new demonstration of modern technology and interacting with the developed world, as the process of digitalization has impacted all African nations, regardless of their economic development levels.

Most importantly, it is opening the door for many people to pursue education as highly skilled ICT professionals while also lowering the amount of labor required to accomplish the same amount of work.

Experts estimate that by 2025, Africa's Internet economy will generate roughly $180 billion, or 5.2% of GDP. FinTech, AgroTech, e-commerce, InsureTech, HealthTech, and CleanTech will be the most sought-after sectors. Africa's iGDP1, which measures the Internet's contribution to GDP overall, is still only 1.1%, according to McKinsey estimates, compared to other growing economies; this is 50% less.

Africa is thought to have the world's youngest population. The United Nations estimates that its youth make up about 70% of the continent's total population.

A crucial technology for the present and the future is digital connectivity for e-commerce, communication, education, and innovation, especially given the youthful population and the widespread use of the internet.

Africa does, however, confront difficulties like a debt problem and a lack of foreign direct investment.

The glamorous hottest summer fashions of 2025

The gorgeous summer wears for ladies and genetlemen.

Nothing makes fashion more appealing and satisfying to ladies and gentlemen than summer, especially with the most glitzy styles of the season. Events, vacations, and beach lovers are all sparked by the summer, and the fashion that goes along with it is truly wonderful.

We have been kept alert in recent months by the fashion industry's high-profile events, projects, and activities. This year, there are excellent fashion designers, together with competitive summer fashion prospects.

Why does summer fashion seem so extravagant? Heavy fashion-design coats, dresses, jackets, and shoes are popular in the winter, and regardless of how beautiful one looks in winter clothing, the ability to wear casual, stylish clothing has been taken away.

As a result, summer fashion is the hottest way to show off those gorgeous legs, especially for the ladies. Men also wear light shirts and trousers to amuse themselves with their partners in restaurants, cafés, open bars, and occasionally at the cinema.

The concerning trend in recent fashion shows is that designers have begun showcasing the newest summertime hues, which have not only taken over the entire fashion industry but are also incredibly alluring.

Men fall in love during the summer when they catch sight of ladies wearing appealing clothing. This is simply explained by the fact that we spend the winter at home and work doing a few things. However, the fashion industry takes a different tack and is happier over Christmas.

Every year, the secret to successfully incorporating feminine components into the fashion world blends modern, informal styling with feminine classic aesthetics. This is complemented by the glamour of summer domination.

Wearing sneakers and simple t-shirts with gorgeously crafted summer hats for men and ladies, paired with beautiful sandals or a simple bag combo, enhances the attraction of summer fashion and gives style enthusiasts a genuinely contemporary and new image.

As summer 2025 progresses, it is not hyperbole to state that a wide range of fashion trends have influenced this season. Since social media and storefronts are crowded with dozens of competitive, trendy fashions, it's easy to become lost in the chaotic world of fashion.

However, many fashion enthusiasts rush to the stores and choose what they find attractive. Even if many have lovely, fashion-designed clothing that they bought the previous summer, they still go shopping every summer.

Most women are naturally shy people; however, this isn't the case during summer fashion. Their closets are filled with cheerful maxi and miniskirts, and their airy, light silhouettes draw attention to the waist and give the ensembles a feminine touch.

They look elegant, beautiful, and attractive, and their sweet perfumes provide a nostalgic touch with romantic summer looks. They go well with matched shoes, skirts, dresses, cotton trousers, or stretched jeans.

The secret to successfully incorporating feminine fashion components into one's appearance is to follow the current fashion trend. This season, the summer style that so many people adored has finally evolved into a new, sophisticated foundation rather than merely a fad.

Sustainability is a major trend in contemporary fashion, and more significantly, companies are moving to more ecologically friendly and sustainable production techniques. Let's enjoy the summer of 2025 together.

Ghana’s Ex-finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta, a fugitive on the run

Ken Ofori-Atta on the run

Ken Ofori-Atta on the run

"He is not coming back to Ghana: My gut-wrenching feelings about Ken Ofori-Atta" was an article I wrote on May 18, 2025, discussing my worries and making it apparent to Ghanaians that the former finance minister would not be returning to Ghana. Like Bernard Antwi-Bosiako, Gertrude Torkornoo, Jean Mensa, and hundreds of other NPP politicians involved in serious corruption scandals, Ken Ofori-Atta believed that John Mahama would never return to power.

Ken Ofori-Atta was declared wanted by the special prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, after he ignored his invitations to appear for interrogation. A physically fit thief can evade arrest from January to December, but if he is caught, he will either claim that it was his first time stealing or that he has hypertension. Ken Ofori-Atta is a prime example of that. After eight years within the NPP’s government, the physically fit white-shirt-and-Bible-quotations thief suddenly became "seriously" ill five months after a new administration took office.

In addition to showing disrespect for Ghanaians, Ken Ofori-Atta undervalues everyone because he is sure that his money-laundering gang and relative underworld clan are safe in the corrupt legal system that Akufo-Addo established by designating the Supreme Court as the highest court in the land. His attorney came forward with the claim that his client is seeking treatment after the OSP declared him wanted. Then, Ken Ofori-Atta asked the OSP to take off the "wanted tag" that had been put on his head.

The special prosecutor replied and took down the "wanted tag," but in a surprising turn of events, the former finance minister, who is being sought for financial crime and fraud, dared to sue the special prosecutor's office for damaging his reputation. This is how NPP politicians tend to behave. Ultimately, June 2025 was chosen as the date for Ofori-Atta's visit to Ghana; however, as of now, no one has seen Ken Ofori-Atta, indicating that he is not yet prepared to travel to Ghana.

The latest news about Ken Ofori-Atta is that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Whether he has indeed been diagnosed with cancer or not, it is not because of an ailment that one commits serious crimes like those of the former finance minister; he should be set free. Besides these offenses, the National Cathedral procurement scandal, the Strategic mobilization contract, the ECG and Beijing Jao loss reduction contract, and the Ministry of Health’s ambulance deal with Service Ghana Auto Limited, Ken Ofori-Atta deliberately targeted non-NPP entrepreneurs to ruin their businesses.

Ken Ofori-Atta is plagued by his fear of going back to Ghana. Naturally, he should be afraid since he has realized that he can no longer underestimate Mahama’s government after the arrest of prominent NPP politicians, like Kwabena Adu-Boahene and Bernard Antwi-Bosiako. He is aware of the seriousness of his crimes, and he may suffer the same fate if Bernard Antwi-Bosiako and Kwabena Adu-Boahene had been locked up by EOCO and NIB until the sureties were met.

Ofori-Atta’s cruelty caused suffering to others and even led to the premature death of many people, including business owners and pensioners, but he wants to be forgiven because he is ill or has cancer. That is unacceptable. How can the world go free and the innocent Jesus carry the heavy cross? Ken Ofori- Atta is not coming to Ghana today or tomorrow. Interpol receiving the criminal file and the OSP issuing an international alert for a fugitive is the only way to resolve the situation.

If Ken Ofori-Atta is successful in obtaining either genuine or fake medical reports to prevent him from going to Ghana to face the law for his crimes, then my dire prediction is that he will die in exile. The NDC has a chance to rule for years because, aside from their best performance, the people have more freedom to express themselves, something they never had under Akufo-Addo.

Children are losing their relationship with the world

Parents offering regular conversations and emotional support help children share the problems they often keep inside

Parents offering regular conversations and emotional support help children share the problems they often keep inside

When I was a child, long before technology shaped every corner of our lives, happiness came easily. My parents were not wealthy; we had no amusement parks, no fancy toys, and no mobile phones, yet we were fulfilled.

We saw how hard our parents worked to provide for us, and their love and sacrifice were enough to make our world complete. Communication was simple, honest, and constant, even without devices.

Today, despite extraordinary technological progress, endless online games, and advanced mobile phones, many children are deeply unhappy. Even those living in stable homes often feel insecure, lonely, or overwhelmed, some to the point of contemplating suicide. We must ask ourselves: what has gone wrong, and how have so many children reached this breaking point?

Money has never guaranteed happiness. What children truly need is love, peace, and stability, but a safe world is becoming harder to find. When parents separate or divorce, children carry emotional wounds that can last a lifetime.

Shared custody may offer structure, but it rarely replaces the joy and security of a united home. Early exposure to family breakdown leaves many children struggling to understand their place in the world.

The COVID19 pandemic intensified these struggles. Children lost relatives, friends, and the sense of normalcy they depended on. Lockdowns isolated them, and many slipped into depression. Those battling addiction today often have painful stories rooted in trauma, loss, or emotional neglect.

War, too, leaves deep scars. Even when children are not directly involved, watching other children suffer on television affects them psychologically. Traditionally, children grow up hoping to care for their parents in old age. Yet in today’s world, parents are increasingly burying their children, a heartbreaking reversal of life’s natural order.

Parents must learn to recognize early signs of distress. When a child isolates themselves, skips meals, or withdraws from daily life, something is wrong. Sometimes the issue is small, a friendship conflict or school pressure, but even then, children need reassurance, love, and the confidence that their future is still bright.

Schools can also be sources of insecurity. Teenagers often hide their struggles unless parents create a safe space for open conversation. When a child shares school-related problems, parents should act quickly, contacting teachers or administrators before the situation escalates into something more dangerous.

Ultimately, when something goes wrong in a child’s life, society looks to the parents. Every parent must remember that maintaining a strong, loving relationship with their children is not optional; it is essential for their emotional survival.

Military force doesn’t define a nation’s greatness; it’s the power to prevent war – Joel Savage

Worldwide, developed nations and many of their citizens believe that a great nation is defined by its military force. More significantly, superpowers like the US, Russia, China, and North Korea frequently display their military might in parades for the world to see.

However, I hold a different view; I firmly think that a nation's greatness is determined by its capacity to promote national harmony and avert war, not by its military might.

The world is suffering from wars, which are taking their toll on humanity. However, many don’t even know that these wars can be avoided, though. These conflicts are caused by a variety of factors, including greed, arrogance, and the desire to dominate and control the world.

Everyone is bragging about their weaponry and military capabilities, but frequently, this verbal boasting turns into actual action. Yesterday it was Russia and Ukraine, and today it is Israel and Iran. Who knows what comes next?

The world is advancing rapidly due to the effects of modern technology. In the past, the US government could simply devise a scheme to accuse an African leader of accumulating wealth while denying the people food.

The US military-backed coup to overthrow the African government comes next. However, today, Africans no longer support this fallacious US policy. When the United States wrongly accused the leader of Burkina Faso of accumulating a fortune and starving his people, the world stood up for Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

The Russian-Ukrainian and Israel-Iran wars are not Africa's fault, but the Black Continent bears the brunt of their effects. Although the accusations are denied, legitimate papers frequently blame Western nations and the US government for coups and political instability on the African continent.

However, the political situation in Burkina Faso is France's fault. After successfully assassinating Thomas Sankara, the former colonial master now wishes to try on Ibrahim Traoré.

World leaders should recognize the effects of war on mankind, including the destruction of the economy, the displaced people and refugees, environmental catastrophes, and the disruption of global stability, rather than displaying their incompetence to stop conflicts.

The world doesn't need leaders who are intent on using war to prove their superiority. It's enough!
