How YouTube is putting money into the pockets of the impoverished youth

The powerful YouTube logo.

The Powerful YouTube Logo

Everyone, regardless of education level, in developing countries, is familiar with YouTube, a platform for sharing videos. However, many people are unaware that the video-sharing platform has been one of the major sources of income for young people living in poverty in underdeveloped countries.

On February 14, 2005, twenty years ago, three former PayPal employees founded YouTube.com to use it as a dating service. Their tagline was "Tune In, Hook Up." Due to their inability to draw viewers, the co-founders Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim made their first YouTube video, "Me at the zoo," which showed Karim at the San Diego Zoo. That was the initial inspiration to pull the crowd.

It is hard to underestimate the vision and intelligence of Google, the largest search engine platform in the world. In 2006, the search engine company paid $1.65 billion for the YouTube platform.

Over the last four quarters, the platform has generated $50 billion in combined revenue from advertising and subscriptions, marking a significant milestone in its transformation from a site for user-generated content to a source of income for both developed and developing nations.

Obtaining funding to launch businesses has proven to be a particularly challenging issue for developing nations, and as the saying goes, "the devil has work for the idle hands."

The youth in Third World countries worldwide are now actively engaged in YouTube, making money by producing videos that range from entertainment to business seminars and books, and even brief posts are already bringing in millions of dollars for content creators worldwide. All thanks to Google.

You don't have to be wealthy to make money on YouTube; once you have a little money to purchase a smartphone, the straightforward process of converting knowledge, content, or audiences into cash becomes available, adaptable, and most importantly, real.

Advertising, subscriptions, gift-giving, course sales, affiliate programs, and information items are a few examples of this. Monetization is no longer merely an opportunity by 2025; it is now a development strategy.

The key to monetization is not the quantity of subscribers but rather the value you can provide to your audience; for instance, what counts is the video's content.

If you're an expert or skilled marketer, you can make money from your knowledge by selling webinars and books on YouTube. According to data from the keyword research and digital marketing platform Semrush, 185 million people visit YouTube each month just through searches on Google.

YouTube has long dominated the online video market, whether in Asia, Africa, America, or Europe. While it has been a powerful platform in terms of business for both developed and developing nations, YouTube has been a powerful tool in deterring thousands of young people from committing crimes.

Making bicycles a safe choice of transportation in Ghana

The Oxford Dictionary defines ‘vehicle’ as a conveyance for transporting passengers or goods on land or in space. In this case, besides a car, a lorry, trains, and an airplane, a bicycle is also accepted as a means of transport to use on the road.

That means a cyclist has the right to use the road without any horn hooting or harassment of the rider by other road users. Integrated transport policy is not viable without the implementation of structures allowing the development of cycling.

There are many reasons the bicycle is essential to users. The bicycle enables one to get somewhere very fast when there is a traffic hold-up. It is energizing to use a bicycle, and it eliminates stress.

Among all transport, it is the cheapest, as you don’t need fuel and no license is required. Ecologically, the manufacturing and use of a bicycle, as well as the planning of space for its use, create much less solid waste and no pollution.

In Ghana, bicycles play a major role as a means of transport in the North for farmers who have no other means of getting to their farms and homes. However, at the moment, bicycles are fast emerging as an urban means of transport in Europe.

Transportation is a problem in most big cities. It is therefore not a crime for a cyclist to get to work or wherever he intends to go on a bicycle. However, on the road, some road users think the cyclist has no right at all to be on the street. They torment cyclists with the blaring of horns and even scream at them at times.

It is very frustrating to most drivers when a cyclist is ahead of them or at any inconvenient place along the road, since bicycles can cause traffic on a busy road.

Some cyclists have contributed to road accidents many times, but that doesn’t mean that they have no right to use the road; after all, are motorists also involved in road accidents?

Walking through the city of Accra, there is nowhere one can find a bicycle route on the side of the major roads. For example, the Accra–Kasoa road is a very well-constructed road, but it was constructed without any bicycle lane.

In Europe, a circulation plan aiming to develop cycling was approved in the ’80s. Revised annually, it considers the implementation of a network of cycle lanes and the transformation of parking places into bicycle parking.

This network is built in order to reinforce the safety of cyclists, with stop signposts placed before those for cars and crossroads redesigned for cyclists.

In Ghana, roads are constructed without any consideration for bicycle users. Nothing is planned in the country by taking the future into consideration.

I believe that if the government implements the construction of bicycle routes in its future projects, there will be a free flow of traffic in the cities, and that would also help to reduce the traffic holdups that motorists are currently facing.

It’s a well-known fact that a lack of finance is one of the major setbacks affecting Africa’s infrastructure and projects. But if a specific project would be a solution or an answer to a problem, then the government should take it into consideration.

For example, in Europe, to prevent traffic jams and ensure the safety of cyclists, the Netherlands has been successful with bicycle routes running throughout the towns and cities. A journey of about 50 to 100 km could easily be done by bicycle.

In Trondheim, Norway, a bicycle lift has been put up in the center of the town to facilitate access to another town called Brubakken, and in Belgium, a bicycle tunnel has been built under the sea to link the two cities of Antwerp and Linkeroever.

It takes ten to twelve minutes to go to Linkeroever from the city of Antwerp, while the bus takes about twenty minutes.

As Ghana gradually matures into a great nation, the government must include the construction of bicycle routes in its future road projects. Bicycles play a very significant role, not only as a means of transport but also as a promoter of good health.

OBEYING THE RULES AT HOME TO AVOID THE SPREAD OF THE CORONAVIRUS

Belgian writer, journalist, and author Joel Savage

Joel Savage

I have read much about biological weapons and diseases. Years back, if a prophet, a soothsayer, or anyone with a third-eye would have told me that an epidemic will appear and kill over 8,000 people in Belgium, I don't think I would have accepted it.

However, here I am today, in a state of shock and confusion, watching helplessly, as the death toll of victims of coronavirus keeps rising in a country that tourism has played a major role in its economy and has also lived peacefully for the past twenty years.

No matter how safe some families are, you need an extra-strength and courage to listen to the daily news with announcements about deaths from the coronavirus, and as the number of deaths keeps increasing daily, that makes one feels sometimes that there is no need to live in this world any longer.

I have been at home for almost two months. Even though some people may like to stay at home without work, this temporary confinement has taken its toll on me. A man needs to work hard to feed his family. Working helps to improve your health physically and psychologically.

As of May 8, 2020, the coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 151,797 people in Europe, three-quarters of which in Italy, Spain, France and the United Kingdom but the situation also in Belgium is alarming, taking into consideration the size of the country. Belgium has so far recorded 52,596 cases and 8,581 deaths.

My condolence to everyone in Belgium affected by this pandemic. It's only a matter of time, everything will be over. It's a very tough period for everyone but we need to be tougher, encourage, and motivate others to stay alive in this pandemic.

I tried to cut my own hair and eventually, I made a big hole in the process. I have no option than to continue obeying the law to stay at home and leave my beard like that of King Nebuchadnezzar.

We have no specific role to play in this coronavirus crisis than to obey the law, avoiding social gatherings, and follow the hygienic rules recommended, avoiding the spread of the disease.

DID AFRICA SEE THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC COMING?

The map of global infection of the coronavirus

The map of global infection of the coronavirus

After the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in China, Europe and the USA, the initial thoughts about Africa by the advanced countries is that the African continent will be hit very hard with a high number of cases, because Africa, is a traditional place for the rapid spread of any viruses, fragile healthcare, and difficult fight against diseases.

Africa is popular not because of its treasures of gold, diamond, cobalt, silver, etc, but a continent with diseases and poverty. But the truth which the foreign media never mention is, apart from malaria that is prevalent on the continent, some diseases, including Aids, Ebola, nodding disease, etc, aren't natural, they were man-made.

Surprisingly, it appears that the coronavirus pandemic in Europe and the USA have become the front page news today, without much attention on Africa because the continent often referred to as the white man’s grave, due to the malaria that killed the white explorers, has the least infection of the coronavirus.

It is obvious that past experiences of the continent in dealing with diseases, prepared them fully to maintain strict medical rules to fight the pandemic than Europe and America. In my opinion, Africa needs applause for doing better towards the fight of the coronavirus than Europe and America.

At the moment, Africa seems to have a relatively low number of coronavirus. In fact, the high number of coronavirus infections around the globe, especially in Europe and America, despite having the best medical facilities, reveals that Africa has suffered certain diseases not because the continent is poor.

Africa is actually emerging from protracted crises, including strange diseases reinforced on them by certain governments, just to destabilize the continent’s economy, to slow down its growth as a measure to prevent the continent from being independent, and  also as a means to take control over the continent’s resources which superpower countries depend on for their survival.

Paradoxically, Africa did not turn out to be the most affected region of the coronavirus in the world, rather the USA, Spain, Italy, and other countries and regions classified by the United Nations as developed countries are those hard hit.

At the end of March to the beginning of April, COVID-19 was recorded in 25 countries in Africa, including landlocked states, such as the Central African Republic and small states Seychelles and Equatorial Guinea.

Since the outbreak, more than 27,385 cases of infections have been confirmed, with over 1,297 deaths recorded in 45 countries, hitting hard in South Africa, some countries in West Africa, and Algeria.

As a matter of fact, those superpowers or advanced countries that underestimate Africa during the coronavirus pandemic because of the fragile health care system must rather learn for Africa, how they are coping and preventing the high spread of the disease.

According to Worldometer, an  organization that collects global statistics and data pertaining to the coronavirus, so far, world infection stands at 2,834,136 and 197,373 deaths registered.

THE ANATOMY OF BLACK HISTORY REVEALS BLACK PEOPLE ARE UNWANTED HUMAN BEINGS

The deliberate infection of African-Americans with syphilis

The deliberate infection of African-Americans with syphilis

Decades after the abolition of slavery, the fall of colonial power in Africa, and apartheid, it's clear to notice that Africa is struggling to be politically and economically independent, while at the same time, African-Americans are also having a very tough time being treated equally as real Americans.

If today, there are Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, and devil worshippers within our midst, then you don't have to waste your time arguing or denying that there are some people, eugenics, that think they are even above God; therefore, they can decide who lives and dies.

Greed, racism, and the desire to take over Africa's rich resources to develop Europe and the United States of America led to Africa's invasion. It was done with cruelty. The scars of slavery, colonialism, and apartheid are still visible today.

Those physical and psychological scars have taken their toll on Black people today, yet African leaders haven't learned anything significant from those bitter experiences, which took place in Africa and the United States of America, against Black people, to improve the lives of the suffering masses.

Black history is sad, emotional, and unpalatable, yet those responsible feel so strong about calling Africa a 'shithole nation,' trying to put the blame on the corrupt African leaders, who are struggling to build a continent that the US government keeps destabilizing the economies of at the same time for their selfish gains.

African-Americans were used in two ways: firstly, to build America, and secondly, as guinea pigs to test drugs manufactured by pharmaceutical companies in America. At one time, they were deliberately infected with the disease syphilis.

From 1932 to 1972, the USA Public Health Service carried out a study entitled "Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Male Negro in Macon County," involving 400 dark-skinned men (African Americans) suffering from syphilis, who were deceived into believing that they were receiving effective treatment.

The disease and death of these men were carefully studied. 15 years later, the knowledge from this study was used. From 1986 to 1989, the number of Blacks in the USA suffering from syphilis increased by 132%, while the number of White Americans dropped by 69%.

The infections of the African-Americans cannot have occurred as a result of sexual intercourse, since at the same time, there was a 23% drop in the rate of gonorrhea, which is sexually transmitted. This reduction in numbers cannot be attributed to a new medication.

Deceived of receiving free healthcare, African-Americans were deliberately infected with syphilis

Deceived into receiving free healthcare, African-Americans were deliberately infected with syphilis.

It, therefore, proves a reduction in the sexual spread of agents that can be sexually transmitted. The increased rate of syphilis infections among African-Americans was triggered by other methods.

The syphilis agents that were spread affect the brain at an earlier stage and are particularly resistant to penicillin, compared with the hitherto existing syphilis agent.

Why a particular race will be subject to such cruelties in both America and Africa, yet the US government, the World Health Organization, and the Centers for Disease Control will never admit that they want to destroy the Black race.

America's lunacy democracy is meaningless and nothing but the oppressor, supporting European countries like Belgium, Germany, Holland, France, Portugal, etc., to commit horrible crimes in Africa with impunity.

Where did Burkitt's lymphoma, nodding disease, Kaposi's sarcoma, HIV/AIDS, and Ebola come from? They were all man-made diseases targeted at the black population in Africa as biological weapons, but mad scientists and the cruel US government, WHO, and CDC call them 'strange diseases.'

To find the truth, read books by the Dutch scientist, Johan van Dongen, and the German medical doctor, Wolff Geisler, books that, when you start reading, will put you in a state of shock over crimes the US government, together with the World Health Organization, had committed in Africa.

Today, look at how the coronavirus has decimated the country without any immediate solution. I only feel sorry for the death of innocent people and families that are receiving the wages of crimes the US government has committed around the globe in the past and is currently committing.

If Africans, African leaders, and African-Americans think they are free, I need to remind them that the US government will never change its policy, since the country and all of Europe, especially Western Europe, depend on African resources.

If America is in crisis, it affects the whole world; therefore, they will do everything, both good and evil, to hold the world's economy, which means whatever it takes to destroy Africa.

That's the reason today's biological weapons of AIDS and Ebola are taking their toll on Africans, and vaccines are being used to depopulate the continent. The latter is the repetition of an old crime that wants to repeat itself following the coronavirus, just to take full control of Africa's resources.

Victims of Aids and Ebola biological weapons in Africa

Victims of Aids and Ebola biological weapons in Africa

There's a big pressure on African leaders about the foreign governments' clandestine crimes on the continent, yet they have no power to liberate themselves. This liberation can never be achieved until the entire African nation unites to liberate itself.

The US government is aware that the oppression on the African continent will turn into an ugly scene one day, which is the reason they are secretly building military bases around the African continent to arrest the situation when African youth explode.

However, I will remind the US government of African history, taken from a quote in Ghana: "The Bush Is Stronger Than The Cannon." That day, they will realize how useless those military bases are.

KIDNAPPED BY ARMED ROBBERS

Nigeria parading six arrested fake soldiers, kidnappers, armed robbers in Abuja

Nigeria paraded six arrested fake soldiers, kidnappers, and armed robbers in Abuja

One late Sunday afternoon, as soon as I had finished lunch, I took my backpack and set off to visit my cousin living at Alago-Meji, a suburb of Lagos, near Yaba, another suburb of Lagos state. A few minutes from the house, I met Mensah, a friend who lived at Oyingbo, a commercial center in Lagos..

Since both of us were heading in the same direction, we joined the same bus towards our destination. When we got down, along Okpebi road, in Ikeja, a suburb of Lagos state, as we were conversing and laughing, a white 504 Peugeot car suddenly stopped close to us.

In the car was a civilian, who was behind the steering wheel, and two armed men in military uniform sitting in the rear. The soldiers were focusing their attention on the little backpack I was holding. Presumably, they were thinking there was a large sum of money in it.

One of the soldiers descended from the car and subjected me to interrogation, asking what was in my bag. “Please, only half a loaf of bread and some books,” I replied.

“What else do you have in the bag?” The soldier pressed me with more questions. Actually, besides the bread and the books in the bag, my passport and a flight ticket were also inside because I was finally due to leave Nigeria finally to Europe the following month.

Like a flash of lightning, I was kidnapped and pushed into the car. “These are the kind of men we are looking for. You are a thief,” said one of the soldiers. I was driven off, leaving Mensah behind. Apart from Mensah, who witnessed the scene, there were a few people around who also saw when I forced into the vehicle.

Mensah stood speechless, watching me being driven off. Sandwiched in between the two soldiers at the rear, they struggled with me, trying to get hold of my bag. It wasn’t an easy task since the bag was firmly held between my knees.

There was no money in the bag. I should have given it to them to avoid any injury or possible death, but for the sake of my travelling documents, I made it a ‘do or die’ battle with them. I knew that once the bag was in their possession, I would never see my passport and the ticket again.

This had happened to many people in Lagos. Stolen passports and tickets were sold to individuals who were desperate to go to Europe. The visa requiring procedure is sometimes so difficult that many applications are rejected. In this case, stolen passports with visas, when sold, were taken to an expert, who gets the old picture removed and fixes the eager traveller’s picture in it.

When the change of picture is neatly done, it becomes very difficult for immigration officers both at home and abroad to detect. Some years back, most international airports were not equipped with devices that could detect false passports.

Hence, many of those people who bought passports are today living in Europe and America under false names and identities. But at the moment, both in Africa, Europe, and America, one can’t beat immigration with such fictitious documents. Most airports are now equipped with modern devices that can read or signal a fake passport.

When the soldiers couldn’t get the bag from me, they started hitting me repeatedly with the butts of their rifles, hoping I would let go of the bag. Meanwhile, I was screaming in agony, “I’ve been kidnapped!” But since the glasses of car remained shut, all my screams for help were in vain.

At the other end of the road where I was kidnapped, the police had mounted a barrier, checking the particulars of vehicles. The armed gang saw the police. They knew perfectly well that if they went further, they would be in trouble. The struggle alone going on behind the car could expose them.

The driver didn’t go any further. Instead, he made a U-turn, heading towards where I was previously kidnapped. They were still beating me up, but I was determined not to give the bag to them. It was like a movie, but this was real.

When the car was getting closer to where the kidnapped scene took place, I saw Mensah standing in the same place, with a few people gathered around him, as he explained to them the incident. He hasn’t seen me yet.

As soon as the car reached the exact spot where he was standing, I dived from the rear of the car to join the driver at the front seat, leaving the two soldiers behind. I got hold of the window roller and quickly rolled down the right window as fast as I could.

Then, with all my might, I screamed to call Mensah and threw the bag out of the window towards the direction where he stood. As soon as the bag landed on the ground, Mensah went for it and took to
his heels. He vanished within seconds.

When the gang saw that their plans had failed, they gave me a very severe beating and pushed me out of the moving car. I fell on the ground like a bag of rice and rolled to the opposite side to avoid the vehicles' tyres running over me.

I stood up, wiped away the dust from my body, and headed towards Mensah’s home. He was surprised to see me. In his lifetime as a young man of twenty-five, he had never witnessed any incident of that sort before. He was in trauma and looked more frightened than I, who was the victim.

For over ten minutes since my arrival, Mensah didn’t have the breath to talk to me. The sun was at its peak, and after the beating, I was feeling hot; therefore, I removed my shirt for some fresh air. It was a terrible thing to watch.

Every part of my body was covered with bruises and swellings. Could this be my worst tragedy? I asked him and smiled at Mensah. This happened in 1985, yet the marks from the beating I received from the hands of the notorious armed gang could be seen on my body today.

However, I thanked God for getting back my passport and ticket from my friend. A week after this incident, I said goodbye to Nigeria and flew to Europe. Here am I now.

Life Lessons Worth Knowing Before You Decide To Give Up

I joined a similar adventure from the Republic of Guinea to the Gambia in the early eighties

I joined a similar adventure from the Republic of Guinea to the Gambia in the early eighties

Your life is not between birth and death. No, it is between your inhalation and exhalation. The present, which exists here and now, is the only life that you will ever have.

So, try to live every moment of your life to the fullest in kindness, peace, without fear and regret. This is all that can be expected from anyone.

Life is short.

This is your life, and you have to fight for it. Therefore, fight for the truth and what you believe. Fight for what is important to you and for those you love, and never forget to tell them how much they mean to you.

Understand how lucky you are, after all, for now, you still have a chance to do something or change it. So stop for a moment, think, and if you need to do something, start it today. After all, how many years are left for you to live on this earth?

Today’s difficulties will pay off tomorrow.

When it comes to working hard for something important, whether getting a diploma, creating your own business, or any other personal achievement that requires a lot of time and effort to achieve, you have to ask yourself just one question: “Am I ready to go for it?" Don't look back, go for it, because that's the foundation of your future

Procrastination makes you a slave to yesterday.

When you are ready to take on business without putting it on hold, yesterday becomes a friendly friend for you, always ready to take the burden off your back. So try to do something today, for which you would thank the present from the future. Believe me, tomorrow you'll be glad you did it today.

Any error can be learned from.

The good happens to those who continue to hope, despite all the disappointments, to those who still believe, despite the bitterness of mistakes, to those who continue to love, even when the love hurts. So never regret what happened to you. It will not change anyway, because time travel has not yet been invented. Better to treat this as a valuable lesson and go without stopping further.

You are your own best friend.

Happiness is when you like yourself, and for this reason, you do not need someone else's approval. Before you can create healthy relationships with others, try to make friends with yourself. Before you can confidently look into the eyes of other people and create relationships with them, you must learn to look worthy of love and respect in your own eyes.

Actions speak louder than words.

Walking along the path of life, you will certainly meet very excellent people who speak only the right words. But in the end, don't judge them by their words but by their deeds. They will tell you everything that is needed.

Even a small good deed makes this world a better place.

Smile at people who have had a tough day and be kind to them. Kindness is the only investment that always pays off. And wherever there are people, there is also the opportunity to show kindness.

Learn to just give away, without any conditions, even if it's only a smile. Not because you have too much of what you can give out, but because there are a lot of people in this world who feel as if they have nothing left at all.

Behind every beauty and pain

You stumble and fall, make mistakes and suffer defeat, but despite everything, you rise and move on, you live, and life teaches you a lesson. You are a man; no one is perfect. After falling, you were only injured, not defeated. Think about how valuable this lesson is to break down obstacles on the way to achieving your goal with love.

Yes, sometimes it happens that your experience breaks your heart, but isn't it enough price for the precious moments of joy and pleasure? So go ahead, even when you are hurt, because you know, the inner force that brought you to this place can lead you further.

Time and experience heal pain.

I left the shores of Ghana in the year 1980, after the sudden death of my father at the age of 44 in 1976. To fight for survival, I lived in Nigeria, the Gambia, the Republic of Guinea, the Ivory Coast, and Sierra Leone before I made it to Europe. In Europe, I lived in Spain, Britain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Denmark.

I got married at the age of 38. I live with my wife and children in Belgium. Next year, in January 2019, we will have been married for 25 years. I have written eight books available at Amazon.com pertaining to my life and other life experiences.

What else do I need from God? Only good health has He given to me. Next year January 19, 2019, I will be 62. I feel so strong every day. I love myself and my family because time has healed my wounds and crowned my efforts.

IS SUMMER A SEASON OR A FESTIVAL?

Mini-skirts: One of the fashion temptations during summer

Mini-skirts: One of the fashion temptations during summer

There are only two seasons in West Africa, the dry and the wet, and sometimes the experience of the harmattan, a dry, dusty, cold North-East trade wind from December to February.

Africa never misses the sun or summer, as it is known among the four seasons in Europe and America, because the sun blazes for nine months, accompanied by rainfall for three months.

Unfortunately, sometimes the rain fails to fall, and when it continues for a longer period, it means impending danger. The reason East Africa is often threatened by the worst drought is. Rwanda, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Zambia, Somalia, etc, have all experienced the effects of drought.

The sun in Africa is used to doing many things, including drying washed clothes, preserving foods, and on health issues, good for the skin. Since the sun is very common in Africa, they don’t see or value it as something special, but when summer arrives in Europe and America, it’s like they have seen magic or god.

In fact, summer is just a season, but what accompanies it in Europe and America seems like a season is a festival. Europeans and Americans go crazy with all kinds of dresses and fashions, which may baffle you.

Mini-skirts, the exposure of long beautiful legs and other parts of the body which can steal your attention and put you into temptation are some of the common scenes in the city, shopping malls, restaurants, cinema halls, etc, and at the naked beaches.

Europe is now entering the summer, but just yesterday the beautiful weather brought some fashions that may be stupefied to see. The question is: What are we going to see when summer fully arrives? I will definitely steal a glance, but I hope I will not be caught by any lady.

Immigration: Europe Doesn't Make One Rich Overnight. That's The Simple Truth

Books by Joel Savage

Books by Joel Savage

Through cultural diversity, I would like to share my experience as an African writer with you. Joel Savage is a freelance writer who enjoys the challenges of creativity and adventure.

I arrived in Europe as an illegal immigrant a couple of years ago. One of my sleeping places was the central train station in Rome. I worked as a houseboy and raised enough money to come to Amsterdam.

It was during my efforts to get papers that I landed in detention. After getting my papers, I decided to write my stories as books.

There are many people in Africa eager to sell all their properties with the aim of coming to Europe. Through the media, I have encouraged people to read my books before making the decision to come to Europe.

Many think Europe makes one rich overnight, but I use my books as a teacher, educating the masses on how difficult it is to be an illegal immigrant in Europe.

On immigration issues, on how to educate Third World Countries about the difficulties of being an illegal immigrant and prevent them from coming to Europe, I'm available to share my experience.

I always ask how I can be useful to educate desperate Africans willing to come to Europe at all costs when Europe doesn't make one rich overnight?

Heart of Endurance' by Joel Savage. ISBN 978-1-62137-194-1. 90 pages.
A book based on true events

The departure of her husband to Europe left Akua and her ten-year-old son in a state of total darkness and solitary confinement.

There were rumors around the neighborhood that her husband had abandoned her and married a White woman, as many Africans do to obtain documents in Europe and the United States of America.

A beautiful and charming woman, many men, including pastors who would rather succumb to sin than to resist temptation and adultery, tried to date her, making the already confused Akua plunge deeper into despair, insecurity, and uncertainty.

Eight years had already passed, but her husband had yet to return home to her and their now nine-year-old son.
Nine years after physical and psychological torture, she happily united with her husband, but her life to an agonizing turn as she was diagnosed with an aggressive type of breast cancer, robbing her of her happiness, strength, and time. THE WRITER DIED : A NOVEL BY JOEL SAVAGE

A true account based on the life of a journalist

A true account based on the life of a journalist

Child neglect relates to the failure to provide a child’s basic needs. In Europe and America, some organizations assist in solving such problems or taking care of neglected children. In many parts of Africa, the story is entirely different.

This is an emotional, touching, and inspirational story of a young boy who finds himself in a similar situation.

Kumbe finds himself in a hostile environment as a victim of divorce and neglect. An environment where he witnesses the suffering and hustling his mother goes through to feed him.

He was unhappy because his father was neglecting his family, spending his fortune on other women. He sees his adolescence as a struggle to win the support of his father.

At school, he was among the best students. This gives him the inspiration to fight to educate himself. In a confused society, Kumbe spends a better part of his life visiting the library, reading, and studying.

Despite a daily horrendous life he passes through, Kumbe excels to be an outstanding journalist and writer.

He was attached to the president of his native country, Ghana, with enormous enthusiasm and optimism. However, in his life as a famous journalist, his fame gives him nothing but hatred, jealousy, and blackmail from an empire of deceitful enemies.

He stands strong and firm, destined to fight the cruel, charismatic power of those forces haunting him. But they are stronger than him. Despite his wife’s moral and material support, Kumbe surrenders and dies mysteriously.

Who and what killed him? “The Writer Died” is a truly remarkable book of hard life experience of child neglect, an indispensable and inspiring book for anyone who may find themselves in a similar situation.

The writer tries to define, measure, classify, and understand what child neglect is like in Africa.

GREAT BRITAIN: WHAT MAKES THIS COUNTRY TO BE GREAT?

Many British teenagers live on alcohol in Britain

Many British teenagers live on alcohol in Britain.

Frankly speaking, during my primary school education in Africa, I became fascinated with the country called 'Great Britain." Because travelers who have visited that country and those ready to go to London demonstrate certain things that make them elites.

Truly, one is always given a special welcome, recognition, and attention in Africa when he or she returns from Britain.

When I arrived in Europe in 1986, what I used to read in their newspapers pushed me to find out what events or historical facts made this country be called 'Great Britain.

Even though there is much crime in Africa, I believe that in Europe, Britain leads to criminal activities. Forgery, scams, falsification of documents and letters with the intention to defraud, credit card fraud, embezzlement, stealing, and rape are what make headlines in Britain.

Many people think the Dutch are stingy, but Britain is number one when it comes to stinginess. The whole world knows about this. They can't even leave a cent or penny behind for a cleaner when they lodge at hotels.

It was in Northampton, Britain, that I saw two sisters quarreling over a can of Coca-Cola, which I had never witnessed in Africa, a Third World Country. Teenage pregnancy and alcoholism make headlines.

In fashion, Britain. Comes last. Even though they are famous fashion shops, the British dress shabbily. They wore poor, inferior shoes. Obesity is taking its toll on them.

The police can't handle or cope with the surging waves of crime in the country. Stealing vehicles is on the rise. The country still drives on the wrong side of the road.

The salary scale for general workers is very low. People rush in and out of underground stations as if the devil is chasing them.

I read recently that British undercover police are allowed to sleep with women they spy on as a source to gather information. Who is the police boss in that country?

Is that the right way to gather information during an investigation?  To sleep with women as a source for information gathering during an investigation is a crime.

Maybe I'm completely wrong. But I don't see anything great about this country. I believe it's one of the most restless countries to live in the world. Wages are paid weekly, and all bills are paid weekly.

Many people are roaming roofless, and drug addiction has taken its toll on many. Great Britain? Not at all, it's 'Hell Britain.'

BOOK: HOW TO PLAY DJEMBE

The Djembe

The Djembe

The eagerness to study African music and its traditional instruments, percussion, including Kora and the Djembe, has led to the sprouting of many traditional music institutions throughout Europe and the United States of America.

African music is not only entertaining but also a vital part of the music of many cultures.

"How to Play Djembe," written by Allan Dworsky and Berty Sanstry, is a complete, step-by-step, user-friendly course on how to play djembe.

Right from the start, in addition to learning how to make all the basic strokes, you'll be learning interlocking parts for some of the most popular West African rhythms: Kuku, Djole, Kassa, Madan, Suku, Sunguru Bani, and Thiba.

After working through only a few lessons, you'll be able to put the parts together and start playing these irresistible rhythms with your friends. The rhythms are written in simple charts, so no music reading is required.

The CD that comes with the book gives you a chance to hear how each part sounds separately and how the parts for each rhythm fit together.

It was recorded by John Camara, a master drummer from Bamako, Mali. Each rhythm lasts at least five minutes, so you'll have plenty of time to play along.

And when John solos during the final three minutes of each track, you'll feel the thrill of playing your part along with an ensemble and lead drummer.

The book is available on Amazon.com.

PREVENT FOOD WASTE - Let the poor use it

Tons of food is wasted every year in Europe

Tons of food are wasted every year in Europe.

Food waste disposal is a growing concern in Europe. It is estimated that about 50% of food produced ends up in the trash, yet prices of food in the shops have increased and continue to increase significantly.

According to studies, food waste makes up an estimated 8.4% by weight of municipal solid waste in the United States, whilst in the UK, each household buys about 16.5kg of food per week, and one-third ends up in the garbage.

"We throw so much food in the rubbish," Says the European Parliament, It is good we adopt some measures to do something about it."

As a measure against the waste of food, Europe wants to curtail food waste disposal by 2025, by working with producers, distributors, and consumers.

"Waste costs money and is also bad for the environment. Above all, it is morally wrong when other people are starving." Says European parliamentarian Mr. Bart Staes of Green. According to him, it would be a shorter food chain help and better coordination of production to consumption.

"In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty." This is how the situation is. What is the significance of food getting wasted when many poor people in Europe and Africa can't even enjoy three square meals in a day?

I watched a Belgian TV documentary, and here are the poor people who roam the streets, picking food from the trash and garbage cans, and at the end of the day, tons of food get wasted.

There are better ways the government can adopt to channel these unwanted surplus foods to end up on the tables of the poor.
