Do you know why simple truth can’t be created in a reasonable society?

Let your life reflect on the seed that grows to hear the word of God

Let your life reflect on the seed that grows to hear the word of God

Even though many believe that without lies, greed, and deception, you can't build a successful life, these are disastrous life elements that everyone must try to avoid.

“And from the days of John the Baptist, until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” Matthew 11:12.

So we need to ask ourselves why such violence still exists today without any sign of submission. The answer is as simple as someone reciting the alphabet.

Hate, hypocrisy, lies, deceptions, pride, arrogance, immorality and greed, have taken over the brain of a man for such a long period of time that people consider evil as a norm because they find it necessary as a means to survive in the society.

There are many people that have delight in committing crimes and will sleep very well with it even after murdering someone. Yes, many feel comfortable with it after committing heinous crimes, while others can't live with such guilt.

This world is a place people are born into and after your mission on earth, one goes down into his or her grave, yet thousands of people are fascinated with luxuries, beautiful cars, and magnificent buildings because of greed. They want to own everything on this earth.

And when their time comes to the end they leave all the accumulated treasures behind and go into their graves.

Despite all that they had, some refused to care about the suffering people, clothed the poor, feed the hungry, and educate the unfortunate ones that lack money put them out of higher education.

People are so greedy to the extent that they can easily go to make a profit at the expense of their loved ones and if it’s necessary to kill for those riches, they will do it. The question is who lives forever?

Many are confused today, wondering if ever there is God at all because they don’t feel that spiritual connection any longer.

It is true, life anxieties, greed, crime, and many other evil things have blocked the spiritual connection man has with God today. You must, therefore, understand why many think there is no God.

What people in distress or those that don’t believe in God often forget is “God is Spirit, and those who worship God must be led by the Spirit to worship him according to the truth.”

The Lord hasn’t given up on the human race. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Life is tough, only a few are born with silver spoon in their mouth. However, without riches, you can be a happy person too.

Just let your yes be yes and no be no and always “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

HOW THE FEAR OF SPEAKING THE TRUTH HAS RUINED SOCIETY

To some people, lie is a perfume they need to use every day

To some people, lying is a perfume they need to use every day

.
The ‘Truth’ is not a commodity sold at the shop; it’s just an act of not lying about something but giving an accurate account, yet only a few can afford it, and those who can afford it often find themselves in a very tight corner, not easy to free themselves.

In John chapter 8:32, Jesus said, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” How often do we ponder or reason over Jesus’ Biblical quotes? Jesus knows that the truth exists, but people will never rely on or depend on it.

The reason our society is torn apart today because it’s in the hands of people under the influence of Satan, so the need to lie is necessary to please both Satan and the people they serve. And since many are not ready to be ‘ruled’ by the doctrine of the scriptures, they join Satan’s company.

Romans 6:23 reveals that: “For the wages of sin are death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This means that death is inevitable because of our sinful nature, yet we need to live in the truth.

Speaking the truth at the moment is not only costly but deadly. Worldwide, many have been assassinated for speaking the truth about something heads of churches, leaders, and politicians wouldn’t like the public to know. Thus, instead of speaking the truth, many prefer to lie.

Jesus knew already that physically the truth would not set you free, that freedom he was talking about was spiritual freedom. Just as He suffered for speaking the truth, the fear of speaking the truth haunts many people.

Who is ready to lose his friends, relatives, and job because of the truth? Who is ready to pass through the mental torture of neglect in society because of the truth? Finally, who is ready to face the hostile opposition and pure hate from an empire of deceitful enemies and a brood of vipers because of the truth?

However, what many people forget is that, like a house that collapses because of its weak foundation, society can never thrive, prosper, and be successful on a foundation of lies, hypocrisy, and the persecution of those who live on the truth.

You may think you are on top and successful, then suddenly you’ll see yourself once again at the same place you started. That is life, you can’t change that until you live clean.

And for those who are facing all kinds of intimidation, suffering, and persecution because of the truth, stand firm with endurance and perseverance. Even though the pain you are going through is hard to bear sometimes, be happy because of the truthful path you’ve chosen.

If those who live by the sword die by the sword and gun by the gun, then liars will not have a happy ending, too, because God hates lies.

10 AFRICAN REMARKABLE PROVERBS WITH A MORAL LESSON

The gentle monkey

The gentle monkey

1. Allowing the monkey to wear clothes doesn’t guarantee the animal to join the dining table. Meaning: Some people abuse their trust if you are kind to them. Don’t take a friend for a fool if he helps you every time.

2. A man who hangs around a beautiful lady without saying anything, yet he likes her, will end up serving the guests on her wedding day. – Just be bold to tell a lady you like her if you’re interested in her.

3. A beautiful girl without any intelligence ends up abusing herself. Her private part suffers the most. – You need to be intelligent too if you are beautiful, else you will end up sleeping with thousands of men to ruin the ‘golden box.’

4. Whoever presents his own head to break a coconut would not be able to partake in eating it. – This is a warning to be careful in whatever you do because some kindness may put you into very big trouble.

5. There is no way a chicken will pass corn or maize without swallowing it. Even if the corn is too big to swallow, the beak will break it into pieces. If a friend offers you a place, be careful not to get closer to his wife because of temptation.

6. The buttocks are like a married couple. There is constant friction between them, yet they still love and live together. – There is no marriage or relationship without a dispute. If misunderstanding comes, settle it amicably before planning to divorce.

7. Never let negative people rent a space in your head. Raise the tent and kick them out. – You have the power to resist evil influence. Don’t follow bad friends to put you in a place you never wished to be.

8. If one finds a wallet on the road and takes all the money in it before he finds the owner, there is no reward or blessing for you. Giving the owner all his money back will reveal your honesty, for the owner to do something extraordinary for you. “This is what I did, and the owner helped me to be employed. I’m still at the same place after twelve years.”

 9. When you are doing well in life, climbing up with success, remember to help those you are leaving behind. One day, if things go badly for you, they will remember what you did for them, and they will help you, too. – Be kind to the less fortunate ones, because no one knows tomorrow.

10. The heart of a rich man lies in his wealth, and that of the poor man lies in the faith of God. The reason poor people sleep better than the rich because they always think of their wealth. Jesus confirmed it.” It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”

Judge Ian Trigger, Ignore The Chief Justice And Do Your Job

Judge Ian Trigger spoke the truth

Judge Ian Trigger spoke the truth

In the course of duty as a judge or lawyer, many are those who come under attack within the judicial premises.

In my opinion, there was nothing wrong when Judge Ian Trigger spoke against Britain's lax immigration policy in 2009, which the chief justice found a bitter pill to swallow.

Judge Trigger, you have spoken the truth, nothing but the truth.

There is a problem in Britain. The ministers and members of parliament speak about it daily, yet the problems continue to exist because in their opinion, "Word speaks louder than action."

There is never a solution to a problem if an action is not taken. I need to remind them.

For example, there are so many crimes in Britain. It is not because there is no job, but most people are lazy. I quote Judge Trigger, "People say there are no jobs around, but why are immigrants flooding in and working hard?

They are just dirty jobs, and the people don't want to do them." Despite this statement, Judge Trigger feels tied or handicapped to deliver the right punishment for a criminal, because of the way he was attacked by the Chief Justice in 2009.

Instead of working hard to revive the ailing economy of Britain, many choose to indulge in crime. At the moment, Britain is the leading country in Europe, with teenage pregnancy and alcoholism.

David Cameron has a big responsibility on his shoulders if he wants to make Britain a crime-free and healthy country.

FEMALE CIRCUMCISION IS BARBARISM

Dangerous implements used for female circumcision in Africa

Dangerous implements used for female circumcision in Africa

Oppression and discrimination against women have become major concerns in many parts of the world, including Africa.

Many women have become subject to all kinds of horrible situations, ranging from rape, sexual harassment, and physical battering to psychological abuse.

In some parts of Africa and Asia, men hold the view that "as a husband, to that woman," they have the right to beat up their wives any time they wish to do so. The ignorant idea that girls are not as important as boys views women as sexual objects rather than industrious, hard-working people.

An outdated practice going on in Africa, which has caused many health hazards to women, is female circumcision. In the Republic of Sierra Leone, an ethnic group calling itself "The Bondo Society" still carries this practice.

Why female circumcision? The idea behind this barbarous act, which has caused so much misery and sickness to thousands of women across Africa, is to "help" the woman to be faithful and stay with only her husband.

Female circumcision is practiced in 26 countries across Africa, and the significance behind this act is totally meaningless and not beneficial to women in any way. Women are not going to be tied down by this outdated tradition. The world must fight against this wicked act. It's totally inhuman.

Children's Rights That Are Constantly Abused By Adults

Children's Rights

Children's Rights

Every child has the right to live, but how many children are killed worldwide before and after they are born? Every child has the right to information, but how many are prevented from knowing the truth?

Every child has the right to education and social amenities, but how many are denied access to education and happiness? We are witnessing the cruelties against children today worldwide.

Every child has the right to medical care, but thousands are dying every day from diseases, such as Aids, kwashiorkor, etc, in painful ways. Every child has the right to decision and opinion, but how many are victims of injustices every day?

Every child has the right to be named and to have a nationality, but there are thousands of children denied nationality by many countries.

Every child in this world has the right to eat and drink enough. Unfortunately, thousands of children are dying as a result of hunger, famine, and lack of water every day.

When children are trained to take an interest in reading, they benefit greatly from the wider knowledge they gain from learning about people and places outside their own narrow world. Unfortunately, so many children do not know what education is about.

A child shouldn't be a victim of war or be used as a soldier. But today, thousands of children are drawn into conflicts, tribal uprisings, and wars to fight with adults.

A child shouldn't be abused, burdened, or sold into slavery for child labour. But today, thousands of children are being trafficked, forced into prostitution and hard labour in every horrific manner to make money.

A child can never fight for himself. They depend on parents or adults because they easily trust people, but today, the same adults that the children trust are making them miserable, unhappy, and even killing them.

So, who must children depend on now for a better future? Children are an asset to national development in every part of the world. It's the responsibility of adults to give them every care, help, and education in their growth and development.

INCEST, IS IT NO LONGER AN ISSUE OF TABOO?

A brother marries his sister

A brother marries his sister.

Superstition, beliefs, and performing rituals are associated with many tribes and ethnic groups in different parts of the world. For example, Saturday is the Sabbath for the Jews.

It is a day for religious services and abstinence from work. Clans, tribes, and people who carry out traditional values believe in punishment when the law is broken.

One belief that from ages people have considered taboo is incest. Sexual intercourse between very closely related people. But as the generation advances, some of these taboos are no longer taken into consideration. How serious is the act of incest, by the way?

Incest is a common issue these days, even though it is illegal or prohibited. Just imagine a father having sex with his own daughter. A mother making love with his son.

What about a brother making love with his own sister and vice versa? These acts people consider abominable, used to be a hidden matter, but are now mostly a public issue.

"I don't see anything wrong with this. People look at us like we are from a different planet. I love my sister, and we have a baby now". Here are the words of a young teenager who is defending his actions. The question is, does incest pose any health hazard?

The Holy Bible speaks against incest in many ways. Also, most social scientists believe that children from incestuous affairs have higher risks for hereditary disorders.

GAY COUPLES CHILD ADOPTION, RIGHT OR WRONG?

Every child needs a mother and father

Every child needs a mother and a father.,

Every man has the right to decide his own destiny. One shouldn't discriminate against someone because of his or her religious beliefs or sexual preference.

From time memorial, many have been prosecuted, imprisoned and killed for their religious beliefs or sexual preference.

Hostility, hatred, and discrimination are now the new acts against gay couples and lesbians. Society doesn't want to accept their choice of partnership and recognize their 'rights' as modest people in society. They are seen as strange people from another planet and treated as outcasts.

Biblically, the sexual preference gays and lesbians have chosen or are fighting to be recognized and accepted in our society was exactly what led to the destruction of the cities Sodom and Gomorrah.

There are many Christians around the world, including Catholics, who read the Holy Bible daily but still practice gay and lesbian affairs. Even a pastor that supposed to lead people not to go astray officiates gay and lesbian marriages.

For some time now, a hot debate has been going on in many parts of the world over the decision of gay couples to adopt a child. Gays and lesbians think it is their right to adopt a child, but Society and many welfare organizations see it as an abominable act. Who is right or wrong?

The most prevailing influence anything can have on a child is the influence of his or her parents, especially the mother. Therefore, parents are required to develop virtuous morals and character.

For example, most children begin smoking very early because their parents smoke. The same thing applies to alcohol. Don't try to stop your child from smoking and drinking whilst you are a heavy drinker and smoker yourself.

Children get confused when faced with situations not certain sure of. I think a straight child may find him or herself in a very deep confusion when being raised in the home of gay couples. If a child wakes up in the morning, which of the two men is he calling daddy?

Seeing two men in bed every day is somehow a mental agony for this vulnerable child, who has no choice of her own to speak against or her dislike of that situation. And seeing two women kissing each day in front of her at home, which of them is she calling her mother?

In fact, desires, greed, selfishness, and lust in people do not enable or permit them to accept some things that are not right. The adoption of children by gays and lesbians is one typical example.

Are they not aware that sexual identity confusion is very common among children raised by gay parents? In the first place, if they are desperately looking for a child, why can't they have their own but choose to be lesbians and gays?

In my opinion, child adoption by gay couples and lesbians is completely wrong. The world must stand strong against it. They can choose to be gay or lesbian. That is their 'rights' and decision, but they must leave the children alone.

TRADITIONAL VALUES ARE DOING MORE HARM TO AFRICA THAN GOOD

Culture of disgrace in Africa

Culture of disgrace in Africa

Some traditional values, such as female circumcision, polygamy, and other outdated customs handed over by ancestors to tribes, are doing more harm to Africa than good.

Female circumcision has caused more health hazards to females than ever imagined, but this old tradition of female genital mutilation is still widely practiced in many African countries.

Polygamy in royal households in Africa is another factor draining some of the African countries' financial resources. A couple of months ago, King Mswati III of Swaziland caused public outrage by sending his favorite wives on a globe-trotting shopping spree.

The royal ruler, despite the poverty of his people, used 7 million dollars of state money to send five of his thirteen wives and dozens of their aides to France, Italy, Dubai, and Taiwan on a secret shopping trip.

The Swaziland people are suffering, but they are smiling, even though it is a criminal offense to criticize the king's private life in their country. Campaigners have reacted angrily against the British government, which gives aid totaling 65 million pounds to the African country. Swaziland also receives about 235 million dollars from the US.

The king of Swaziland has a personal fortune of $240 million and also receives money from the national budget for the upkeep of his family, yet more than two-thirds of the country's 1.2 million population survives on less than fifty cents per day, and more than a quarter of the adult population suffers from HIV.

In a country like Swaziland, where education and health should be priorities, he spent $5 million on 20 armored Mercedes-Benz cars. A journalist from the Swaziland Solidarity Network told the British Times newspaper.

"They shout about Zimbabwe, but they keep quiet about what is happening in Swaziland, even though they are one of its biggest aid donors. They are wasting British taxpayers' money on this tyrant."

Men and women, which of them are the most faithful and sincere?

A cheating man caught red-handed

A cheating man caught red-handed

I write about many interesting issues, but I have never thought of writing about gender faithfulness or unfaithfulness to each other, when one day, someone asked me, "Why do most men die and leave behind their wives?"

I couldn`t find an answer to her question, then, without a thought, I said, "Because most men are unfaithful to their partners." I was surprised she was satisfied with my answer.

But is it very true that men fall short when it comes to dishonesty? Well, many men lie and cheat on their partners, but also women.

Most men cheat on their wives and girlfriends for several reasons, including lack of sexual satisfaction, biological problems that the woman is not aware of, but of which the man cannot speak. But with women? I keep on asking myself, "Why do they often cheat on their men?"

Are they also looking for sexual satisfaction or money? On Monday, 28 September 2009, whilst waiting at London`s Victoria Coach Station to join my bus to Dorset, a sad story caught my attention in an entertainment newspaper called "London Lite."

The story was about a woman who was allegedly strangled by her own husband after discovering that she was having an affair with another man.

The husband, after having enough evidence, including a secret taping of 127 hours of his wife's conversations with her lover, confronted his wife, who asked for a divorce. To me, that was a very good wife.

She did not deny her unfaithfulness but quickly asked for a divorce of which her man should have accepted the request and given her freedom.

Instead, he did the most stupid thing a man could do. Fearing the loss of his home, two children, and fortune, the jealous husband chose to kill his wife, pretending he did not know of her death.

The court heard of his wife`s previous adulterous adventures. Marriage always turns to a different angle of diverse problems when there isn`t any transparency, honesty, and faithfulness.

Even though I know that most men die leaving their partners, I can`t really say it is because of their unfaithfulness to their partners, since women also cheat on their husbands. But it is a fact that a greater percentage of men cheat on their wives than women.

A BELGIAN MURDERS HIS AFRICAN WIFE

Problems in relationships or marriages are very common

Problems in relationships or marriages are very common.

What provoked a Belgian to the extent of killing his Black wife? This was the question on the lips of the African community in Antwerp. The shocking murder of Evelyn Amarim-Vanacker, a 31-year-old mother of two, led to a peaceful demonstration recently.

Evelyn, a native of the Anioma local government in the Delta State of Nigeria, was reported to have been strangled to death by her husband at their home on the 2nd of March 2009. According to sources, the murder took place while the children of the deceased, aged 4 and 1, respectively, were sleeping in one of the rooms upstairs.

After the brutal murder, the husband took the lifeless body of his wife into the boot of his car and drove 100 kilometers to dump the body in an open field by the border between France and Belgium, where the French police discovered the body the next day.

After committing the brutal crime, Mr. Vanacker reported to the Belgian police that his wife was missing. After a heavy interrogation that followed, he broke down and confessed to the killing of his wife.

The motive behind the murder is not clear, but according to sources, there was no more happiness in the marriage after five years. Constant quarrels and exchanges of words were bringing the marriage almost to its knees when this occurred.

The question is, how would the Belgian police handle this case? Especially in Antwerp, where such cases are not seriously dealt with. This has given license to many Belgians to treat foreigners, especially Africans, the way they like.

Many Africans are angry with the African ambassadors sent overseas. "They don't do anything to protect us; all they care about is corruption and greed. Europeans know that they are weak, so they take advantage of this to kill us," said one Nigerian who spoke to me about the killing of Avelyn.

WHY DO PEOPLE BLAME GOD FOR TODAY'S VIOLENCE?

There are many churches throughout Europe, but they are empty every Sunday

There are many churches throughout Europe, but they are empty every Sunday.

Christianity found its way to Africa through the white missionaries who went to the continent years ago, but it is like Africans have embraced the Christian faith than the whites themselves.

It is very common to see Africans worshipping God in churches on Sundays, while on the same Sunday, you see Whites at the drinking pubs enjoying glasses of wine and beer.

In Britain, a few churches had been converted to drinking pubs, yet the government is fighting hard against alcoholism, teenage pregnancy, hooliganism, and crime without success.

Many simply have no time at all to think of God, let alone to attend church service on Sundays to worship the creator. Once I visited a church in a small town in Rome-Italy called "Sacrofano."

The beautifully designed ancient church attracted me into it with the desire to fellowship with them that Sunday.

I was shocked to see that the pastor was preaching to only two people in this big church. I joined them, and the number increased to three.

In Antwerp, Belgium, most of the time I see people at the church when someone has died. It is like the church was built to pay last respect to only the dead, not the living.

The world today is full of turmoil, war, tribal conflicts, racism, discrimination, etc. All these problems are caused by man. Man decides to cause pain, havoc, and unrest to people and our societies, but not God.

Why then do people ignorantly ask, if there is God, why must all these problems occur? People drink and lose their minds to kill, stab, and beat their wives and children, yet many prefer to drink rather than read the Holy Bible, a book that heals our spiritual and physical problems.

Hebrews chapter 12:26-27, predicts that "Everything that can be shaken will be shaken.....so that only those things that can not be shaken will remain." This means that our jobs, retirement, pensions, children, health, etc, can be shaken at times.

At the same time, the Bible says, "Everything shall pass, but the word of God shall be there forever." This is an important message to remind men to find solace in God by reading the Holy Bible.

Alcohol, crime, and all the evil things men commit will lead us to a place we have never dreamt of, that is, going to hell and jail.

AFRIQIYAH AIRLINE MUST IMPROVE ITS SERVICES

Afriqiyah Airways, poor service, poor facilities

Afriqiyah Airways, poor service, poor facilities

While modern aviation has taken new dimensions to improve aviation safety and ensure the safety of passengers and luggage in all flights, other airlines such as Afriqiyah has broken every rule in civil aviation.

This is a true bitter experience of a passenger that joined the airline Afriqiyah, a couple of months ago.

"I find it very necessary to write my story for other intending passengers that want to travel with this airline to think twice before making any fatal decision," said a woman residing in Britain. In July 2008, I traveled with my son, an eleven-year-old boy, from the United Kingdom to Accra- Ghana, for a six-week-long holiday.

Even though my luggage was controlled and tagged, right under my watchful eyes, when we arrived in Accra- Ghana, our luggage was nowhere to be found. How could our luggage mysteriously disappear? Afriqiyah officials had no clues to the disappearance of our luggage.

When I called their office in Accra to find out where our luggage was, none of the airline officials gave me a positive answer. On many occasions, they don’t want to pick up the phone when I called. At a certain stage, they felt being disturbed by my constant inquiries. How could such a thing happen to a passenger?

It’s only Africa, one could hear such stories. We are a subject of mockery in the eyes of the developing world due to the way some of us do our things. It takes so many years to build up a good reputation but it takes just a second for a stupid fool to destroy all the good works that had been done.

One shocking thing I also observed was that the toilet on the flight wasn't in good order. A hostess stood by, with a bucket of water and rinses the toilet after each use before someone else enters. It is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen.

I spent the whole six week holiday with my son in the same clothes we wore on board the flight from the UK to Ghana. Eventually, we returned to the United Kingdom without a trace of our luggage by Afriqiyah officials.

Three months after my arrival; I received a confirmation call from them that our luggage had been found. I wrote a letter to the airline demanding compensation. Till now they refused to reply to my letter or even to send a word of apology.

Is that an airline I would encourage someone to travel with? She asked. Sometimes passengers make mistakes to join cheap airlines but in the end, they lose more than traveling with the best airlines. A word to the wise is enough.

TAKING CARE OF CHILDREN WITHOUT PARENTS

Orphans in Africa

Orphans in Africa

Studies by psychologists show that emotional distress in adolescence and adulthood, including depression, alcoholism, anxiety, and suicidal tendencies, is often associated with abuse and bereavement suffered in childhood.

Many young children have undergone diverse emotional distresses that are not their fault. Take, for instance, because of divorce alone, thousands of children born today spend their lives in a single-parent family. This contributed to the high rate of child delinquency.

On many occasions, when a child is bereaved, adults think they are too young to feel the loss. According to psychological reports, this assumption is absolutely wrong.

Until recently, most psychologists believed that there was no way to help a mourning child recover from painful encounters with separation and loss. These are a few recommendations suggested by psychologists to help a bereaved child. Communication starts by telling the child...

“You are not alone. I’m with you.” Hold the child who trusts you on your lap and soothe her with long strokes. Finally, one can put an arm around the child’s shoulders, in this way easing the tension that builds up in the head, neck, and shoulders.

AN AFRICAN IN ANTWERP, A resident's story

The tale of an African in Belgium

The tale of an African in Belgium

"I want the Belgian authorities to know that the media have failed to address the crime that is perpetrated on foreigners. I will publish it," -Joel Savage.

The Belgium-based African journalist Joel Savage has published a pocket-sized book, An African in Antwerp. It’s his true life experience and a personal encounter about how he lives in a city where one in three adults is known to vote for the Extreme Right Party.

It is also in Antwerp where Ouleymatou, the African nanny, was gunned down with the toddler under her care in broad daylight in a racist attack by Hans Van Themsche in May 2006. Joel Savage’s pocketbook is handy, small, and easy to read. An hour of good reading.

An African in Antwerp explains in detail how immigrants are systematically abused and blackmailed by landlords, employers, and even friends. We’re under constant threat, and the Police do very little to help.

It reminds me of the number of mixed-race couples I have known where African men are under constant pressure… “don’t do this or I will call the Police,” And in Europe.

The police come, every time they’re called, because if something really happens, they never want to be accused of negligence. And in any encounter with the police, the first thing they ask for is your Identification documents.

While Africans demand treatment with dignity in Europe, the same is still tricky in Africa. And honestly, a collective good treatment in foreign lands will remain a tricky issue as long as human rights issues are not dealt with decisively in Africa.

In my opinion, the continued racism in Europe, America, and Australia has direct roots in Africa, and the day five nations like Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, and Congo will raise the dignity of their citizens to be at par with an acceptable international level, the world will be forced to respect Africa.

So in Joel’s book, it's very interesting to read how honesty and hard work have helped him thrive in a society that offers little to its black population. Belgium is a country traumatized by the loss of its colonial power in Congo.

It was a painful divorce that the tiny European kingdom was not able to cope with. They like their selective memories of their past with the Congo, how they brought civilization to Africa. But not how King Leopold III annexed a country as big as the whole of Western Europe and one of the richest in the world, to his personal wealth portfolio.

The tyranny, killing, and raping of African women is not part of that good old past. Last year, the Belgian award-winning film producer Georges Kamanayo, himself a product of a Belgian colonial man in Africa, exclaimed that his picture and many other mixed children like him are missing in the beautiful family album.

The family album that Belgium so proudly presents everywhere is of a happy family. This year, the country is preparing to remember the World Expo held in Brussels in 1958. But man, this is 2008, and Africa has long gained independence. Joel Savage’s book is available in African shops in Belgium.

The updated book is now published in America as 'Little Boygium-Wonderful experience.'

THE CRIMINALS WITHIN THE POLICE FORCE

There is discrimination in the police force worldwide

There is discrimination in the police force worldwide.

The police are a law enforcement force responsible for keeping public order. Their activities include the apprehension of those who don’t want to abide by the law.

As a matter of fact, citizens of every nation depend on the police for protection and the guarantee of a safe and crime-free neighborhood. In the pursuit of peace and the fight against crime, the police sometimes meet their untimely death.

In Africa, especially in Nigeria, hundreds of police officers have been killed by armed robbers and thieves. Ghana was once a peaceful country, although petty crimes are reported daily, but not armed robbery.

But now armed robbery has been exported to Ghana by Nigerians, and this has given employment to hardened criminals in Ghana. For example, every Nigerian armed robbery gang arrested in Ghana has a Ghanaian accomplice.

Some of the arrested armed robbers have police uniforms. No one is accusing the police of selling their uniforms to armed gangs, but the question is, “How do armed robbers get police uniforms?”

It takes a million people and precious time to build a good reputation, but it takes less than a second for one person to destroy all the good work that has been built.

In fact, the head of the Ghana police force has a greater deal of responsibility on his shoulders to eliminate all those criminals in uniform within the police force. There are a lot of corrupt officers within the police force.

It is a very serious matter that something must be done. Some officers in the police force are tarnishing the image of the force because they joined it not to protect citizens against crime but to wear the uniform to make money through robbery and other illegal means.

On Tuesday, August 7, 2007, the Daily Graphic carried front-page news about three arrested police officers for allegedly taking $24,000 from a suspected cocaine dealer.

According to the story, the three men from the Mobile Force Unit of the Ghana Police Service have been placed in custody. This is a very serious matter and a disgrace to the Ghana police force. How could police officers commit such a crime?

This is not the first time a story involving the police in criminal activities has appeared in the daily papers. Another question that needs an answer is, “Why do police officers indulge in criminal activities?

Is it poverty, or are they underpaid? It is a fact that the job of the police is a very frustrating one, one that unfortunately many people don’t respect, but that doesn’t mean they have to turn against people they have to protect.

Some people think that giving the police full discretion and freedom from legal actions would help. That is not true. According to investigations, taking away accountability will make the police worse than criminals.

It is, therefore, a good part of the Ghana police force to let any member who broke the law pay for his crime, as they are presently doing. Most Ghanaians have lost total confidence in the police for many reasons.

For example, the police are nowhere to be found when a crime is going on, and when they are called, they come when the crime has already taken place. In advanced countries, it is a big success for the police when criminals leave behind any evidence during an operation.

Because the retrieved object during investigations could lead to the arrest of the criminals by means of forensic, DNA, or fingerprint tests. But in Africa, criminals are never apprehended when they leave behind an exhibit.

Many people refrain from reporting to the police their problems because some have to extort money from the victim before investigating their case or making an arrest. These are some of the issues that need proper attention.

To prevent crime in society, people should give respect to the police and work with them. The lack of respect for the police prevents them from fully serving a community. This is very common in Europe, where a lot of foreigners are living.

Due to racism, there is an indifference to police service where immigrants are. One thing individuals must understand is that the police cannot be everywhere at once to apprehend a thief or fight against an armed robber.

As long as there are human beings, crime could occur. Therefore, in order to help the police to prevent crime, people should look out for each other and always inform the police immediately when they see someone acting suspiciously.

2005, A YEAR OF HOPE AFTER THE TSUNAMI

Within a relatively short period between January 1st and December 31, 2004, thousands of people worldwide experienced many ups and downs, ranging from social problems to natural disasters.

As a matter of fact, the year 2004 was not all that amusing or a happy year for many people.

The ongoing war in Iraq, ethnic conflicts, and rebel activities in Africa have claimed thousands of lives, including children, and the lucky ones who miraculously survived the carnage suddenly become orphans because their parents have been killed.

Just as the year is coming to an end, a natural disaster, "Tsunamis" which has never been recorded in history, hit Asia, claiming over 120,000 lives, injuring scores on its deadly path, and rendering thousands of people homeless.

Life is said to be a delicate balance between planned activities and unexpected circumstances. That doesn't mean that one has to give up in times of crisis.

Since the year 2004 is gone forever, all our troubles should be buried with it, since the constant thinking of past problems could sometimes act as a stumbling block to our progress.

As the new year arrives, what are our hopes and expectations? Through God, faith, and positive thinking, our hopes and dreams could be a reality.

As individuals, we must put behind religious conflicts and live in peace to work together to make the year 2005 a prosperous and happy year for all.
